RLanger7228 56 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 When a COLLECTION does not have a particular image assigned, it creates a "default" image by using the images from some of the items in the Collection. This is brilliant, as it gives insight into, or a "preview" of the Collection content when browsing through all the Collections together. For a Collection of films by a particular studio, for example, this is ideal (screenshot). The default Collection image is made up of 4 images from included items (repeated, if there are less than 4 items in the Collection). I have noticed that once Emby selects the images used for the "default" image, it seems to remain static & never changes. It might be nice to have a user selected option to allow the "default" image to rotate through different items in the collection, so it could change periodically, or not if the user prefers. It might also be nice to allow the user to manually select which items are used in the "default" image. Programmer's note: you can default to the current method Emby uses to select images if the Collection content later changes and a user chosen image is lo longer available. It would be up to the user to go back in and select a new image manually, if desired. This may be a lot of programming for a feature some may perceive as having "marginal value". It occurred to me as I was organizing my ever growing Emby library. Collections help my users find what they might be looking for among a library of thousands of films. Hopefully, this forum posting will show others may also be interested in this feature which I think would enhance the Emby experience.
ebr 15647 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I know this has been requested before in the context of the library images but I cannot find it right now...
Luke 39985 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Hi, the rotation for this is when the collection changes, not periodically. 1
