FordGT90Concept 63 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 It either pauses like it is buffering starting about 17 seconds in or it quits and jumps to the next track. I think one time it even managed to make it crash. Server is saying it's direct playing. Same files work fine via Edge browser.
FordGT90Concept 63 Posted January 26 Author Posted January 26 (edited) Opus too. I forgot to mention that if Ogg or Opus files are in a playlist (11th and 12th in the list so far), it has jumped over the file then halted playback (meaning the next file in the playlist doesn't even start). Example: MP3 MP3 MP3 FLAC MP3 OGG skipped (presumably errors of some kind but doesn't show it) MP3 selects it but doesn't play it Edited January 26 by FordGT90Concept
FordGT90Concept 63 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 I did a bunch more testing and Emby Windows is not crashing. The problem is simply the playback of Ogg Vorbis and Opus files.
softworkz 4423 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hi, I've sent you an upload link. Could you upload the files for testing? Thanks
softworkz 4423 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Thanks for the test files. Do you have this installed: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9N5TDP8VCMHS
softworkz 4423 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hmm, it plays fine on my side (both). Do you have beta or stable server?

FordGT90Concept 63 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 I clicked on a song that's failing in the Recently Played list. It immediately shows nothing as playing then hangs. The only note in the server log is: 2025-01-27 14:01:08.602 Info Server: http/1.1 POST http://192.168.0.128:8096/Sessions/Playing/Progress. Source Ip: host6, UserAgent: EmbyMedia.EmbyTheater/2.211.2.0 2025-01-27 14:01:08.602 Debug SessionManager: Playback progress (TimeUpdate) reported by app Emby Windows 2.211.2.0 on BY-2021 playing Unnamed item. Position: 116728 ms. PlaySessionId: 1738007761655 Then after like 15 seconds, it starts playing another song. I didn't even tell it do that.

This is with any file or just those Ogg files like you sent to me? Do they play in Windows Media Player? (new one) What's your OS version?
FordGT90Concept 63 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Every single Ogg Vorbis and Opus file is doing it. Little Town plays fine in Media Player. Second time also fine. Third time, dead (same error as below). 33% failure rate; Opus. Alexander Nevsky Rides to Battle failed with an error code the first time. I started it again to screenshot the error and it was fine. Third time it died again within seconds. 67% failure rate; Ogg Vorbis: Windows 10 22H2
softworkz 4423 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Ok, thanks. So there must be some issue on the Windows side - maybe specific to Windows 10..

They should be identical (store previously showed "installed"). I don't even... Edited January 28 by FordGT90Concept
FordGT90Concept 63 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 Ugh, it's not fixed. It died on "Soft Moonlight." I right clicked it, got the file path, pasted it into explore, and Media Player played through the whole file without any problems.
FordGT90Concept 63 Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 I verified that Emby on Edge does not have a problem with Opus/Ogg Vorbis files. Only Emby Windows fails.
FordGT90Concept 63 Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 (edited) Vorbis is still utterly broken on Emby Windows. I went to an album that has mixed MP3 and Vorbis (incidentally the first disc is MP3 and the rest are Vorbis). I attempted to play the the first track on the second disc. Emby Windows does nothing. I click play on it again, it selects the first track from the first disc and the UI shows it playing like a second but I don't hear anything. Click another track on another disc, nothing. Do the same one again, first track from the first disc. If it does manage to play one of the Vorbis files at all, it only plays the first 20 seconds or so and quits. pwhodges 1770 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Half my music is ogg/vorbis, and I have no trouble playing any of it using Emby Windows. I have the K-Lite Codec Pack installed, which I first got when it was the only source I could find of some other codec I needed; since then I've had no codec issues for anything. Paul
FordGT90Concept 63 Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 (edited) I installed K-Lite Codec Pack basic and Ogg Vorbis still dies 25 seconds in. I tried to click next track and the app went "Not Responding." A few seconds later, it played for another 10 seconds or so and locked up again. Edit: After restarting it behaves exactly as it did before (always jumps back to the first track on the first disc). What it looks like on server activity: AUKIO = first disc, first track (MP3) Alexander Nevsky Rides To Battle = second disc, first track (OGG) Checked a different album that's all Opus in Ogg container. It stopped at 25 seconds on the client side but the counter keeps going up on the server. Where are the Emby Windows logs? FYI, it's doing this with both an Arc and a Radeon on transcode duty in the server. Edited February 5 by FordGT90Concept
softworkz 4423 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 From verrsion 2.216.0 on, ogg, vorbis, opus will play via server transcoding. (still a couple of days to go until it will hit as stable) 1
