It is should be well known by now that new Intel chips have serious issues with Linux. It took, what, almost a year for 12th gen to work in Linux? If you are going to use it, you need to use Windows.

This is not the first report of same problem with N150, so far the Emby team has not provided any follow up response and it is not clear what the issue is.

The problems are on linux, which is a known linux problem. The Emby team can't make linux just magically work if there are no drivers available. The below is in regards to Linux Mint, which is based on Unbuntu.

If you have a Intel N150 CPU, you must use an LM22 version and use a 6.11 kernel in order to get graphics. LM22 was released with the 6.8 HWE kernel and will automatically be upgraded to the 6.11 HWE when you run updates after Feb. 1, 2025. If you need a 6.11 kernel before that update happens, you can install the latest 6.11-oem kernel with sudo apt-get install linux-oem-24.04b and reboot.

You need to upgrade the Linux kernel to 6.11 or above, and recompile and install LibVA, GMMLib, and Intel(R) Media Driver for VAAPI in the host or virtual machine. The N150 video hardware decoding can work normally. I solved the problem in this way. However, the docker version of emby is not supported yet. It seems that there are still problems with its Linux environment. I hope it can be upgraded as soon as possible. At present, I can only install emby directly in the virtual machine instead of using the docker version.

@RanmaCanadaI came across the GMKtec Mini PC Intel N150 for $157 from Amazon. Would this be good for emby theater? What i cant tell is if I plug in my soundbar, would it also play without transcoding, dolby digital master & true HD. This would be for my.main TV, which is a samsung.

Thanks

Dom

I think you would be better off with an N100 as it is better supported. For best results you would want to use LIbreElec. Apparently the N100 will passthrough ALL audio. The only problem is DV of course, but I think that might have been solved, I am not sure. Honestly for the price I would probably get a streaming stick instead, like the ONN.

We will have an updated ffmpeg build on the server beta channel in the near future, so stay tuned for that.

I really need it, the current version of emby does not support the gpu of the n150 processor. I installed the latest ffmpeg in the system and it works fine.
