VergilWu 0 Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Happy New Year! My English is not very good, the following content is from Google Translate: When I use the latest version of the Docker image(be113ebc40cc), the externally mounted paths are not accessible in the media library, prompting me with a dialog to check permissions. When I use the beta version(1263a65492ff), I don't encounter this issue, and both the docker-compose.yaml and path permissions remain unchanged. When I run the embyServer Docker image using the beta version, in the same network environment, the web interface on the computer and the app on the Android phone can play normally without any issues. However, the Android TV app(2.1.16g) displays an error toast message: "com.android.volley.ServerError." Interestingly, when I install the same Android TV client on another device, it works fine. The problematic device used to play without issues before. I'm unsure what configuration might be causing this error. > In problem 2, the logs show that the UserAgent of the problematic device is: Dalvik/2.1.0 (Linux; U; Android 9; XGIMI TV Build/PPR2.180905.006.A1embyserver.txt > The time range for reproducing problem 2 in the logs is from 2025-01-01 13:31 to 2025-01-01 13:36embyserver.txt. --- If there are any parts that need clarification or rephrasing, please feel free to ask me, and I will provide a new description. If you have any more questions or need assistance, please continue to ask. Wishing you all the best!

I'll check with our build and packaging developer, but I can't think of a reason for that.
Luke 39988 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Regarding android, Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks. 1
Solution VergilWu 0 Posted January 3 Author Solution Posted January 3 Hello, I tried deleting all Emby configuration and Docker containers and then rebuilding and initializing them, and all the issues disappeared. Everything, including my network environment, clients, and media library path permissions, remained the same, so I can rule out those as the causes of the problem. Therefore, I suspect that the issue was caused by a problem with the local Emby database file. Unfortunately, I didn't have a backup of the problematic database file for you to investigate and reproduce. Thank you for your attention and feedback~

TVTech 5 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) @Luke One of the reasons I am switching over from Jellyfin to Emby is because of how sleek and awesome your 'Emby for Fire TV' app is. However I also get the "com.android.volley.ServerError" because the "Next Up" section of TV Shows times out and fails to load when I click on that show for the first time. Playback and everything else works as intended. Now regarding the standard Emby app, I'm sorry to say but that one just doesn't compare to the 'Emby for Fire TV' app as far as options and aesthetics. It's also quite awkward to navigate because it has the same UI as the PC client. Is there no other option than having to settle for a much lesser version of the 'Emby for Fire TV' app? I spent hours last night poring over old posts on here regarding this same topic; some going as far back as 2018, so I'm sure this is an issue you're well aware of. Is there going to be a patch for this in the next update? Finally it should be worth noting that I have not yet paid for Emby Premiere, so the version of 'Emby for Fire TV' I am using is the free "unlocked" version. Is it possible that this problem would go away if I unlocked it with an Emby Premiere subscription? I had to ask first because I would feel bad if I paid for the subscription and ended up not being able to use this particular app. Edited January 6 by TVTech

TVTech 5 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 **CORRECTION** The exact error message I get is "VolleyError com.android.volley.TimeoutError:" not "com.android.volley.ServerError".

This list is too long for me to get into now and quite frankly I am really frustrated that you guys rarely respond to the core issue at hand. I don't like the standard Emby app for one main reason and it is that library display settings are not applied on a user basis, but rather only to that specific device. The 'Emby for Fire TV' app on the other hand, allows me to configure my display settings on one TV, then sign into another TV on that same profile and still have all those configurations intact. I just don't understand why you guys continually take away cool features that most people enjoy. The bottom line is I am more than willing to pay for the subscription, but only if am satisfied with the product. That being said, you still did not address any of my questions or concerns. I've practically written a book in this thread at this point but all you did was come back with a question about why I don't like the standard Emby app. Why does that even matter? It's not like you're going to change anything. Just answer my main questions and I will be on my way. Edited January 7 by TVTech
TVTech 5 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Okay I apologize for my last reply. I tested out the standard Emby app on my Fire Stick and there are actually a few things that I like about it. For one, it seems to retain all my configs from the PC and Android mobile app. Also I really like how quick and responsive it is compared to the 'Emby for Fire TV' app and no timeout errors. I can tell that you all put a lot of work into this project. Much appreciated and I apologize again. I wish there was a way to delete that previous reply haha. 1

I ask because this above issue is the only thing keeping me from using this app instead of the standard Emby android app.
