briancameron 1 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 I have just moved to Emby from Jellyfin and just set up my libraries. I am using Tiny Media Manager for my nfo creation, and so have not selected any meta downloaders in the library settings for shows, movies, and episodes. This is my preferred methodology. In JellyFin there is a setting in scheduled tasks to refresh people. Is there similar in Emby, as I can't find it. So far for some of my cast and crew Emby has created nfo's for each actor as a folder of their name, with a profile nfo inside it. But the nfo only includes their name, and no other details. I presume it is picking the actor name from the show.nfo but it is not universal (as in not all cast members have had a profile.nfo created). I have scanned and refreshed libraries but still only some of my people are created. If i manually refresh an individual actor, a folder is created with their name and TMDB number as the folder name, and a fully complete people.nfo inside. But this means there a can be a folder that is just their name, and a second that is their name and TMDB number - so two people.nfo profiles per person. Ideally i dont want to refresh each actor anyway as I have 1000s in my libraries. I presume I have set something up wrong. Can anyone advise the best approach to take to full complete the people nfos for everyone. Thanks.
Luke 39998 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Hi, if you click on a person as you browse around, does that get metadata downloaded?

I have same workflow as the OP: On 12/31/2024 at 1:19 PM, briancameron said: I am using Tiny Media Manager for my nfo creation, and so have not selected any meta downloaders in the library settings for shows, movies, and episodes. but facing none of the issues, all actors are imported properly with their photos being picked up from .actors subfolder (starting with 4.8+ at last without any workarounds and shenanigans, thanks Luke). For people without bio, clicking on the image is sufficient to get metadata downloaded. 71.2014.nfo Edited January 3 by GrimReaper

Tbh never had need for that NFO format, so have no idea what it does (or doesn't) write. Edit: Hm, out of curiosity rewrote one Movie and one TV show NFO in JF NFO format - still getting TMDBIds/URLs in NFO. Ok, I thought, maybe needed a fresh scrape; removed movie from TMM, deleted existing NFO, reimported, scraped with JF NFO format - again getting all cast metadata. So I cannot recrate your scenario with JF NFO format not writing TMDBIds. 71.2014.nfo Edited January 3 by GrimReaper Testing
Solution briancameron 1 Posted January 16 Author Solution Posted January 16 Apologies for the very late response. I went on vacation, and thus was trying to resolve this so i had a fully working emby before i left for some entertainment on travels. Anyway. I seem to have it working now. I deleted the actor folders that were created without the TMDB ids in them. And now when i access an actor in emby, the image pulls from my Tiny Media Manager actors folder, and the nfo details are created in the Emby Metadata Peoples folder. I think my issue may have been something i did at creation of my emby server. 1
