Transcoding Issue: Videos Cut Out When Buffer is Full

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post in, but since I'm using EMBY in Docker on UNRAID, I think it fits here.

I'm facing an issue with transcoding. From my perspective, it's not a hardware performance problem, as the Docker runs on a Ryzen 9 3900X (12 Core / 24 Thread) paired with an RTX 3060 12GB GPU for transcoding.

The transcoding works well and is fast. However, after some time, videos start cutting out every 15 seconds or more, which makes it very annoying to watch.

I’ve conducted several tests to try to understand the issue and I think I’ve identified the cause, but I don’t know how to fix it.
The problem occurs when the transcoding buffer is fully loaded. As long as the buffer isn't completely filled, I don’t encounter the issue.
If I change the resolution, the issue disappears—understandably, as the buffer resets. But once it fills up again, the problem comes back.

There are no issues with direct playback, which reinforces my suspicion.

I should mention that I have set up a share on an NVME disk for transcoding, as I initially suspected a disk read bottleneck as the cause.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this and how to resolve it?

Thank you!

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Thank you for your follow-up.
Should I attach the logs as they are, or do you still need more details about the specific time or user account?
If that's the case, I'll need to identify the relevant timestamps first.

Here are the requested logs.
This issue occurred in this example on 01/01 between 22:22  and 22:44 , and was resolved by rebooting the Emby Docker at around 22:50.
The impact was noticed during the playback of the video "SILO S02E05."

Today, I observed the issue again, and I noticed the message "Throttling" appearing.
It seems like there’s a side effect. Why are the FPS spiking like that?
Once again, the issue disappeared after rebooting the Docker.

Hello Luke,

The issue was not only on iOS but also on Android TV / Fire TV.
I'm sorry, but since you decided to remove the "unlock app" option, I have left Emby.

No 😰

I fully migrated, and deleted the Docker.
