Everything is being converted but I only want new movies to be

I purchased Emby Premiere on Black Friday and I am trying to set up transcoding on my Windows 11 laptop running the emby server.

I went into the server settings and configured hardware acceleration, and then I clicked on the three dots menu of my movie library and clicked on convert and

1. configured a custom transcoding profile
2. checked "Automatically convert new content" leaving "Convert unplayed videos only" unchecked.

What I am hoping to see is that only new movies added into this library get transcoded. What I am seeing is that all movies already in my library are being transcoded. Well, that will be a waste of time and file space.

Is there a way to set a library so that only new movies get transcoded ahead of time?

Something else seems to be going on as well, which is that my preferences aren't saved. After I configure the custom profile and click on the large green "Convert" button and I'm returned to my home screen, if I repeat the process -- click on three dots, click on convert, see the conversion menu, all my settings are gone: the custom profile is gone, and the both checkboxes are unchecked again.

So what should I be doing? And what other pieces of information from my logs or whatever would be helpful?

At the moment, I can't even figure out how to stop these background conversions at all, gulp...

Ah! So I found all the conversion jobs queued up in the server UI, and canceled the conversions...

But how do I get the behavior I'm looking for, or can I get the behavior I'm looking for, where emby will automatically transcode new movies and leave old movies alone (whether they have been played or not)?

HI, they may just end up being recreated. There is no way to only convert newly added content while ignoring all existing content. No automatic way at least. You'd have to just do manual conversions as you add new videos.
