lardners 7 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Hello, Lately when I add new media, it takes a long time for it to identify it and pull the metadata etc. This is because in the logs I can see the Info QuickSingleImageExtractor: ProcessRun 'quick-extract-image' running. It's running through evey movie I have even though I've had them for years and they already have such images. I've attached the server log, if anyone could tell me why this is happening. Thanks embyserver.txt
Luke 38825 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Hi, looks like you enabled the video preview thumbnails feature in the library options. Consider disabling that if it's too much for your machine to handle. Thanks.
lardners 7 Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 If I disable video preview thumbnails for the library, will chapter images (like below) still get created when I add a movie? are these seperate things or are they linked?
Luke 38825 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 HI, yes that will prevent those from being generated. But you could also just have them be scheduled task only.
lardners 7 Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 Ok, well I suppose what I'm really asking here is, why is it running through all my media if I already have video preview thumbnails? It's re-creating something that already exists and that's why I'm confused, should it not be just generating them for the Polar Express? If I let it run its course, will it refrain from running through all my media the next time I add something new?
Solution lardners 7 Posted November 27, 2024 Author Solution Posted November 27, 2024 I recently installed the plugin called Media Info which writes directly to the mkv files, adding things like Atmos or whatever. Could this be why Emby might treat them as new or modified files, and hence runs the image extractor on them?

I would consult with the developer of that plugin. You could always try removing it to see what impact that has.

I think if the file "date/time modified" changes the Emby believes it is a new file and all related tasks will run. I would think that the modification you describe does alter "date/time modified" field so the file is a new file to Emby. 1
lardners 7 Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 Ok I think we have the answer then. Thank you both 1
