AngelSing 28 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Hello, I’m trying to organize a movie from an anime series that could be considered a special. My goal is to have it appear within the series as a movie in the "Seasons" section, and not as an episode. In the directory, I created a Season 00 folder and placed the movie there as a special. However, I want it to remain in chronological order alongside the other seasons. The issue is that assigning it to Season 0 positions it at the very beginning of the list. If I change it to Season 3, it might cause issues in the future when Season 3 is released. For this reason, I left it as Season 00 and thought I could adjust it using the "Sort by Title" option in the metadata to achieve the desired order. However, so far, I haven’t been able to understand how this feature works. I’ve tried changing the title in the metadata, using "Season 3," the letter "C," the number "3," and other options, but it still doesn’t organize as I want. Could someone explain how to correctly use the "Sort by Title" function? Or, alternatively, does anyone know another method to chronologically organize specials within a series?
Happy2Play 9142 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) Sort Title is not used in Series. I believe your only option is changing the Season number from 0 to higher than the last season so say 9 or 99/100+ Edited November 27, 2024 by Happy2Play
pwhodges 1744 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 You can't place an extra folder between season folders (other than by using unsupported names for all folders, as I described in my answer to your other thread). But if the metadata is complete, including the season/episode that a movie or other special precedes, then Emby will place it in the correct place in the corresponding season folder (you can specify episode 999 or something to place a special at the end of a season). On the other hand, if I use a very high number, when Season 3 is released, this movie would still appear at the end, when it should be placed between Seasons 2 and 3 to maintain chronological order. Honestly, at this point, it would be ideal to have more freedom to manually organize both seasons and episodes.

Paul So, is it not possible to have a movie in the seasons section? Can it only be placed inside a specific season folder? Is it also not possible to freely organize the seasons?
pwhodges 1744 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Correct. The arrangements available are those defined by the database. Paul

Paul I would say that more control is needed in this area to allow users to customize it more flexibly. It would be great if the developers could consider implementing something like this in future updates.
pwhodges 1744 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 That would of course mean an extra layer of work for Emby, translating between your arrangement and the arrangement used by the metadata database. Paul
