Nimasa 8 Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 (edited) Following link is a short clip showing how desktop web app fails to play some Flac files and skips them (Windows - x64, Chrome 131.0.6778.86). The Android app can play the same files with no issue. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TDXTwXDzC5HrIx-nogz4g061mNSr-uFO/view?usp=sharing Edited November 25, 2024 by Nimasa
Luke 40100 Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Hi, if you drag the file onto a browser tab in Chrome, what happens? does it play? 1
Nimasa 8 Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 7 hours ago, Luke said: Hi, if you drag the file onto a browser tab in Chrome, what happens? does it play? Good point. Chrome does not play when I drag the file onto in. However, Firefox can easily play the file and Emby on Firefox can also play the file easily. On Windows, it's a Chrome browser issue that needs to be fixed. And I assume it's the same story about the browser on Sony TV since it's also Chrome based. Thanks for the good catch. I reported the issue to Chrome team. 1
Happy2Play 9445 Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 (edited) Odds are it will probably come back to the files themselves as I am having issues reencoding ones that don't drag n drop. @Nimasa example from one file 4_5778342128367176949.flac and one that drag n drops 4_5767309701708517805.flac Edited November 26, 2024 by Happy2Play 1 1
Nimasa 8 Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 I used the following online service to reencode the files to flac and it fixed the issue. Now the files can be played on Chrome. I agree with you that most probably the issue was within the files, however, the codec that Firefox and other media players (such as Pot Player) are using is able to handle such files unlike what Chrome is using. https://convertio.co/ 1
Happy2Play 9445 Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Yes similar has been seen before of how reliable the browser players tolerance of files with issues are. But really don't see them changing anything but you never know. 1 1
