aVe2000 9 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) Hello together, i want to switch from plex to emby, bought a life time premiere pass to make sure not to miss anything. Now i want to import my directories. I added emby user to the old plex directories on the synology level. So far so good. I am able to import all files. But, right now, i really have problems with my ripped audio books and cds. In all imported directories i added cover.jpg files. But somehow, especially with audiobooks, the images are not detected or at least not shown in my library. For showing audiobooks i open my audiobook library and switch to the books panel. Here i dont see any images. On the other hand: if i switch to the folder/diretory tab, there i see the directories with images. Here are some examples: Also in the music libs there are some pictures not detected or shown. Here its only 10%, Audiobooks are 95%. I tried to play with the settings of the lib, but actually i dont know with setting is the best. I assume, usually images in the directories should be taken first, only if there is no image it tries to look up in the internet? Is it a problem if the albums are not detected? But again, i would assume, it would take local pictures first. Additionally it seems like the feature for saving images in the media folder doesnt work. I tried to upload images in the emby gui but the uploaded images didnt show up in the local media folder of the album. I read the naming convention stuff, i waited until the scan was complete (no green bar anywhere anymore). Maybe someone is able to help here? Edited October 11, 2024 by aVe2000 added images

aVe2000 9 Posted October 11, 2024 Author Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) its emby premiere Version 4.8.10.0 here are two music albums where i wasnt able to get the cover art to be shown: what is wrong with it? Edited October 11, 2024 by aVe2000
Neminem 796 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) How are your music files tagged? Emby uses tags and embedded images. Check you music files with mp3tag. Also check if this is enabled in you music library. Edited October 11, 2024 by Neminem Forgot image 1
aVe2000 9 Posted October 11, 2024 Author Posted October 11, 2024 Thank you for your answer. It's tagged the usual way, I would say. Albums are tagged not originally, because the names are too long for my mp3 player. So, as an example, "lord of the rings" is tagged "lotr" . I tried embedded images, too. It doesn't work either. "Embedded images" means images embedded in mp3 or flac files, right? But that's not, what I mean. I simply want to let emby show the images placed in the media directory. Are images only shown if emby find the album via its metadata search? I hope not.
Neminem 796 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Not sure, dev's would have to answer this. But proper tagging and embedded images worked for me. So I did it the hard way. And went album to album tagging and embedding.
Solution user24 233 Posted October 11, 2024 Solution Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) I agree that the best approach is embedded metadata, however I did a quick test and found the following... You may need to select structured folders in your respective Library Folder Settings to get Emby to import the correct images from your folders. If you have no embedded images and have "Other or unstructured" selected, then no images will be imported (as per your image example). If you have no embedded images and either of the "Perfectly organised" options selected, then your folder images will be imported. I tested this with a music library: Both the structured options work "folder" and "cover" filenames work If you have no embedded images, then It doesn't matter if "Embedded Images" for Song Image Fetchers is selected or not. Perhaps have a look at this setting and see if it helps? Cheers! Edited October 11, 2024 by user24 formatting 1 2
aVe2000 9 Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 @user24 that really helped me out, switching the folder structure. 1 1
