Sketchcatt 0 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 (edited) Why are some of my media folders getting classified as tv shows when they are movies? Edited October 7, 2024 by Sketchcatt
GrimReaper 3973 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Depends on your library type and/or filefolder naming/structure used. Specific example would be required. 1
Gilgamesh_48 1097 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 In the vast majority of cases problems like you describe are the result of improper naming and/or structure. The library type can also have an impact. If you are using mixed content then the naming and structure are the only clues Emby has as to what given files are. I never use mixed except for the live TV recording library because Emby is much better at maintaining a dedicated library that it is at guessing what kind of media you are using.
Luke 39636 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Hi there, how are your files named and organized?
Solution Sketchcatt 0 Posted October 22, 2024 Author Solution Posted October 22, 2024 Well I did discover that when some of my files are labeled with the words like episode/ep. or part, or scene, that the entire folder of videos gets listed as a TV folder. To get it to not do that, I just go back to my files and edit & remove those words. The server will eventually go back & list my folder as a movie folder rather than a TV folder ...(which I can't seem to fully understand how the TV folders are categorized & organized anyways-- It is confusing for sure!)
pwhodges 1814 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Just follow Emby's rules (which allow a lot of options) meticulously and everything will work fine. https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html You can bend the rules, quite a lot sometimes, but you need to be clear that you are more likely to confuse Emby the further you stray from the recommendations. Note that in a mixed library, the folder structure is crucial to get reliable results (each movie in its own folder, each series in a folder with with season subfolders) - because Emby uses that folder structure to determine what kind a media each is and where to look them up.
