Migano 3 Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 I cannot get my server seen externally at all and, when I go to log in on the MAC it fills the password with a strong password which I cannot remove or bypass. I have set up an emby connect user ID and password but when I put them into the apps nothing happens. A bit lost

You have to link your emby connect account to your local account on your server.

Tried to do that, whenever I go to login it takes me to the screen and the password auto populates with suggested PW and CANNOT be removed to allow me to log in. If I go and separately log into the forum I can login with my emby connect account (which I’ve linked to the server login in my profile page) but doesn’t seem to do anything; and when I login to the app I can see my local media, but when I log in to emby connect nothing happens.

Well the forum account is not the same as your emby connect. On your mac open the keychain and you can just delete or copy the password there and then try to login. Just be sure to write down the details just in case.

Thanks Guunter, have deleted all the saved passwords etc and will try from scratch in the morning.

Migano 3 Posted September 11, 2024 Author Posted September 11, 2024 Still can't get it to work externally and have no clue what I'm doing wrong. Removed all passwords etc but when I try to login to Emby server on Mac the password auto populates and is not removable. I have my emby connect email address in the profile of the server but when I log in (off network) nothing happens. I'm normally absolutely fine with this stuff but this is proving to be so difficult.

guunter 42 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 On your mac go to Settings -> General -> Autofill & Passwords. Then you can turn off autofill.
Luke 40096 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 @Miganoplease let us know if this helps. Thanks !

Thanks Guunter, that worked and allowed me to input correct username and password - still says unable to reach server when I try to connect from outwith home. network though absolutely baffled, I have no clue what I"m doing wrong as all settings say it should be accessible remotely

You still need to port forward, setup a vpn, or reverse proxy to access it.

I actually got a friend (IT Director at large University) to connect into my machine and look at all the settings and he was utterly bamboozled why it's not working as my Emby/router settings matched his identically

And when you try to connect from the outside your using your public IP and port right? Not the your private IP from your LAN. @LukeMight need the logs to help you further.

I confess some of this goes a bit above my head at times (specifically networking which I HATE) but, as I said, I got a guy who knows his stuff to RAS in to my machine and check and look at all settings
Migano 3 Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 @Lukelet me know if sending any logs would help and, if possible, what logs? Thank you to both yourself and @guunter for trying to help, it's appreciated.
Luke 40096 Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 @Miganowere you able to figure out remote access?
Luke 40096 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 @Miganocan you show us how you setup port forwarding?

Q-Droid 881 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 (edited) My original post was that it looks like you're missing the Internal Port (LAN) in the config. But I double checked and when left empty the Asus routers will use the same value as the External Port entered. In other words the Internal Port is optional when the values are the same. This also applies to a list and a range of ports. Edited October 10, 2024 by Q-Droid
Migano 3 Posted October 10, 2024 Author Posted October 10, 2024 12 minutes ago, Q-Droid said: You need to add the Internal Port value as well. That's at least one of the things missing. Connections should flow: Internet client --> WAN IP:WAN PORT --> LAN IP:LAN PORT Service Name: Emby External Port: 8096 Internal Port: 8096 (?) Internal IP Address: Emby server LAN IP I added the internal port and still won't connect when off home network, just says 'unable to reach server' , thanks for the advice though, was hopeful that would be the silver bullet!

Yeah, I updated my post because internal port is optional when they're the same on these Asus routers.
Carlo 4552 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Hi, Are you sure your ISP isn't using a CG-NAT? 1
