Hello!

I am running a paid Emby server on my PC. It worked once after a lot of tries, and I took a break for 1-2 weeks.

I have both the antivirus and firewall deactivated on my PC. My ports are forwarded in my router (http - 7920, https - 7921). I've changed them because I thought it's a port blacklist problem, that's why they are not default.

I have Dynamic DNS activated from my provider (vanilla-wow.go.ro).

ISP Router: Huawei HG8147X6

I can run the server just fine in my LAN, but not remotely.

I will attach you the logs, maybe it's something there that I can't see.

I am running for years my security camera from the same network on the same DDNS, on a different port without any issues.

I don't know what to do, please help. At the moment I'm paying for a service I can't use, and I really like Emby.

Can you show your port forwarding rules? I think you've incorrectly configured them because I can connect to any port on that address, which shouldn't happen. Tried a whole bunch of random ports and they all connect to something.

I really don't care about people managing to connect on all ports, because I can easily fix that, I do care that they are able to connect to the Emby server and manage to log in :) But thank you for the heads up! Usually all the ports are blocked, even the ones that I port forward. It depends on what IP I get assigned. Luckily my power rarely goes out.

They should actually be only TCP but it doesn't really matter, however you didn't specify the external port number. Try specifying that as well and see if that works. Your other rules should be like that too, you're telling the router "when you see an incoming connection on this port, send it to this host on this port". But without specifying the external port, I guess it's using all of them, which is really strange.

If I specify the external port and do a "canyouseeme", the port will appear blocked. This is the only way I managed to see this port opened. But I will try again as you said.

Btw to have a better comprehension why you can see all ports opened it's because my DDNS comes from my ISP,  it's set up by me on their website. The DDNS is redirecting you to my external IP, not to a specific service that I run locally.

I've changed it as you've said. Now it says that it's not opened, but probably Canyouseeme interrogates through a different port and that's why.

Try and connect now. I have no luck using the mobile app at the moment.

7920 and 7921 show open for me (but not accessible) but don't recommend posting your address here.  Potentially will need a mod to edit that.

It's no problem. A router restart will fix it :)
The question is now, how do I make them accessible?

Not sure as it reports 8096, 8920, 7920, 7921 and lots of other common ports open.  So something is not entirely right as you don't have all of these rules.  My need to restart some hardware.

Almost every port I input shows open.

Well, I don't have access to all my router's settings as they are limited by my ISP. But from my understanding, and I know this is not a common thing (I've done some research from my provider), as long as I have an 8x.xxx.xxx.xxx  IP and not a 172.xxx.xxx.xxx for example, and my DDNS is active in their server, UPNP should be automatically activated and I would be outside of double NAT. Probably that is why all my ports are open. My provider only blocks a list of 8 ports by default, the others are opened. This should help Emby, not the other way around.

25, 53, 445, 123, 135, 139, 161, 1900, 23 should be blocked by default.

P.S.: I've never had any problem with other servers or webservers that I've hosted. Only with Emby, which is weird.

Well I primarily input 6000s, 7000s, 8000s, 9000s and all came back open.

But specific 1900 show open also.  Did no test others as some common ports do show closed.

liars ... they specifically say on their webpage that these ports are closed and I should make a petition to open them if I want 😂

Unless that port test is wrong.  Does canyouseeme.org show port 1900 open as they are limited to your WAN address where yougetsignal can input address.

Port Checker shows it open also.  Overall almost everything appears open so it is a matter of why forwarding is not happening correctly.

Yeah 1900 is open for me also. Also I tried again and I see now that 7920 and 7921 are opened again.

Also here is a little something from my ISP Port forwarding "tutorial":

"For security reasons, the ports in the range "Well-known ports" [0-1023] can be filtered depending on the equipment. It is recommended that a larger port be used for the external port option, for example 8008. For the internal port option, any port can be used. It is recommended that the port forward be done based on the MAC address [DHCP Binding], given the fact that it is possible that the IP allocation by DHCP is not constant. In the case of open port checks, they appear "open" only when a service is running on them."

Funny thing, now, after I set up also the external port like you suggested, when I try to access the emby server from my browser, it doesn't work :)

Of course it works by localhost, but not by DDNS or IP.

If no other client can connect it would suggest a firewall issue, do you have the corresponding ports in your firewall enabled?

I completely disabled the firewall and antivirus for testing purposes days ago. There should be no problem.

Also, check your Windows Network Profile, it should be set to 'Private' and not 'Public'

Windows Firewall sometimes still does not play nice disabled.

Done, it's private now, still no luck.

I'll enable the firewall and forward the ports.
