Starkadius 219 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Microsoft has made it known that no matter your platform of choice, the company will be there to help you create apps for your preferred platform. Additionally, if you use a non-Microsoft platform, they will make sure you can access their services from other platforms too. To build on its commitment to help its users be productive, the company has announced a new Visual Studio emulator for Android. You read that correctly, Microsoft is making it easier to build Android apps. Not sure if this is relevant to current android developers here but thought it would be interesting news to share. Source
Luke 38841 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Absolutely. Today is a really big day for us. It really reinforces our credibility in regards to the technology decisions we've made. As you can see the server this week is being rolled out on a number of new platforms, but this is only the beginning. A number of dominoes are going to fall. Distributors will be more motivated now to ship up to date mono versions. The tools to package applications will get easier and easier, and perhaps best of all, Mono is already starting to replace huge swaths of their source code with Microsoft-written equivalents. That's going to lead to a whole new level of stability, performance, etc. And the best part is all of these benefits are going to trickle right on down to Media Browser users. 1
