Emby not available on Smart TV bought in 2024?

My mothers old samsung recently died. They bought a new one, nothing fancy, a Samsung UN43DU7200F (or UN43DU7200FXZA) Version XB01 from Best Buy.

 

Emby is not available in the app store?

 

Can it be loaded via USB? I thought that all of the newer TVs had it available so a but suprised it is not. Any ideas?

Looking at the app store developer portal it looks like 1.6.4 should be available for new models as Samsung automatically adds the new models when they have tested it, but possibly they have not added for all models/regions.  Usually, the version they add is not the most recent as it is the version they used when they started testing.

What region/country are you in?

I can see that 1.8.0 has been approved and is waiting for launch for the last 3 days.  You can wait a few more days and check again, or you can install the USB version. Just be aware that it gets updated every 30 days (Samsung policy).  That also means that your first update will probably be sooner than that as the current USB version is a few weeks old, but after that it will be about every 30 days.  When the store version is updated then you can go back to the release.
