Phish1980 0 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 So I'm trying to have emby as a backup to my plex server and everything goes great with all my video libraries....until I get to making my music library. It doesn't import all artists and albums. I have deleted and tried numerous things but it constantly misses 100's of albums and about 20 artists. I have 390 artists and 3,870 albums total. Emby does 376 artists and 3600ish albums. I don't know what to do or why it's not scanning everything in. Much appreciated for some help thanks.
Happy2Play 9061 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 If will be really hard to say as Emby relies on embedded tags not folder structure. Guess your only options would be adding media in batches to ensure everything is imported correctly and not possibly merged into something else.
Luke 38508 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Hi there, yes can you please provide a specific example of what you think isn't being scanned? Thanks.
Phish1980 0 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Exactly what example are you wanting to know...hate ti use plex as an example but my latest addition to plex music is Phish 12-31-223 and emby doesn't scan it in. I have for Phish alone 974 albums emby scans in 895 of them that's one artist example. Every other library for video works flawless 15 minutes ago, Luke said: Hi there, yes can you please provide a specific example of what you think isn't being scanned? Thanks.
Luke 38508 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 OK then, can you please show us your files and folders for Phish 12-31-223, and then show us what you see in Emby? Thanks.

Phish1980 0 Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 1 hour ago, Luke said: What do you see in folder view? 34 albums...supposed to be 49 albums

Albums and artists are metadata driven views based on information embedded within your audio files. That's why I'm asking these questions about what you're seeing in one vs. the other because that will help narrow down the source of the problem.
Luke 38508 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 So now that we've cleared that up, can you please show a screenshot of the Phish folder in Emby? To get there, start from the Folders tab of the music library. I bet everything will be there. if it's showing in folder view, but not album view, then this means you have audio files that either have no embedded album tag, or something incorrect.
Bottles51 70 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 What is your library path? It looks like you have albums in another sub-foulder

Luke 38508 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 And the contents of the corresponding folder in the file system? Please show the complete screenshots so that all of the contents can be seen rather than cropping them into cutouts. Thanks.
Bottles51 70 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) Remove your artist folders from sub-folders or point the library to each of them. You will continue to have problems if you group your artists into collections and have sub-folders. https://emby.media/support/articles/Music-Naming.html Edited February 20 by Bottles51

No specific folder structure is required.
