Volta10 1
I just stumbled upon this awesome software today while I was searching for slingbox alternatives. I got everything to work but I cannot get more than 2 tuners simultaneously. First I used hdhomerun prime 3 tuner. I was able to view with 2 tuners only. I tried this with LAN PCs and other PCs over the internet. The moment I tuned into the 3rd tuner, the streaming stopped within 10 secs. I then replaced my HDhomerun tuner with Ceton 6 ETH but again the same thing happened. No more than 2 tuners simultaneously. I even tried to lower the quality to 420p but it didn't matter. The stream will stop once more than 2 tuners are used. I thought maybe my network cannot handle more than 2 tuners at a time. However, when I tested 3 computers watching tv via Windows Media Center everything worked fine.
Kent 91
Hi, look at your transcode log to see how your CPU is handling transcoding. It's on the MBS web client, under HELP>LOG. The log is clearly marked as Transcoding. You want to see how well it is transcoding while you have 2 streams going, then add a 3rd. Not sure this is the problem of course, just pointing out an area to look at (CPU performance). edit: post the logs up if you need help interpreting them. Also if you need more support you should outline what you are running (server version, backend software i.e. WMC or NextPVR, ARgus TV, any plugins and associated log files). Volta10 1
Hi attached are the 3 transcoding txt for the 3 tuners I assumed. So when I opened the third tuner, two stopped streaming on their own. Hope you can interpret what went wrong. To answer your other questions: I'm running serverwmc verion 1.0.0.4.2 build: 1167 and mediaborswer: Version 3.0.5395.0 I use chrome browser to view by logging into IP address:8096/mediabrowser over the internet. CPU performance: win 7 pro, intel core i5 @3.40ghz, and 16 gb RAM Log1.txt Log2.txt Log3.txt Edited November 2, 2014 by Volta10
Cheesegeezer 3086
What speed is your wired network, sounds like its 10/100 Mbps and not gigabit ethernet, tv will clog your bandwith as its quite hungry.
Volta10 1
Under Local network status it says speed: 1 Gbps. My PC and Centon are connected directly to fios router.
Kent 91
Looks to me like it's CPU bottleneck but would be good to have others validate. Below snippet from your transcoding logs look like you aren't getting the FPS needed to keep the stream from stopping/stuttering. Regarding network, you clearly said that running 3 streams through WMC (assuming on 3 different computers) you are working fine, so I don't know how it could be tied to network. frame= 32 fps= 13 q=0.0 size= 225kB time=00:00:02.57 bitrate= 717.4kbits/s frame= 47 fps= 15 q=0.0 size= 448kB time=00:00:03.06 bitrate=1195.2kbits/s frame= 62 fps= 17 q=0.0 size= 660kB time=00:00:03.57 bitrate=1513.6kbits/s frame= 77 fps= 19 q=0.0 size= 880kB time=00:00:04.07 bitrate=1772.1kbits/s frame= 92 fps= 20 q=0.0 size= 1162kB time=00:00:04.57 bitrate=2081.3kbits/s frame= 108 fps= 21 q=0.0 size= 1459kB time=00:00:05.10 bitrate=2341.5kbits/s frame= 123 fps= 22 q=0.0 size= 1748kB time=00:00:05.60 bitrate=2554.1kbits/s frame= 138 fps= 23 q=0.0 size= 1974kB time=00:00:06.10 bitrate=2647.9kbits/s frame= 153 fps= 23 q=0.0 size= 2170kB time=00:00:06.60 bitrate=2691.6kbits/s frame= 168 fps= 24 q=0.0 size= 2408kB time=00:00:07.10 bitrate=2775.1kbits/s frame= 184 fps= 24 q=0.0 size= 2675kB time=00:00:07.64 bitrate=2868.3kbits/s frame= 198 fps= 24 q=0.0 size= 2939kB time=00:00:08.10 bitrate=2969.3kbits/s frame= 214 fps= 25 q=0.0 size= 3147kB time=00:00:08.64 bitrate=2983.2kbits/s frame= 229 fps= 25 q=0.0 size= 3395kB time=00:00:09.14 bitrate=3042.1kbits/s frame= 244 fps= 25 q=0.0 size= 3555kB time=00:00:09.64 bitrate=3020.4kbits/s frame= 259 fps= 26 q=0.0 size= 3742kB time=00:00:10.14 bitrate=3022.4kbits/s frame= 274 fps= 26 q=0.0 size= 3834kB time=00:00:10.64 bitrate=2950.9kbits/s Incidentally, this is my issue as well as I don't have a high powered computer. In fact, I can't run more than one stream at a time.
Volta10 1
Is there are way for me to calculate how many streams my CPU is capable of streaming? Maybe it's the CPU that's causing the drop streaming. Btw my connection speed is 25Mbps up&down.

CTRL+ALT+DEL a login style window will open with 5 options, it's the bottom on you want.... TASK manager. Click on the Process tab at the top and then click on CPU to sort your tasks into cpu load order. You can then see what programmes are using the most CPU. See Screenshot below. You can also click on the performance tab to get a graphic view of the overall usage of your CPU.
