I've been using MBC/WMC as my big screen center for close to a year now and I have to say it is a thing of beauty paired with plugins and themes I've invested into. I do NOT use it for the live TV side, Netflix or any other add-ons, just plain playback of my digital content. It is great, really is ... except maybe subs handling and other minor annoyances. Hence the explorations into the unknown for perfection! I went through this guide to get started. Running XBMB3C 1.0.2 with Confluence XBMB3C Skin. I have a very simple setup: Win7 x64 PC: MBS Win7 x64 HTPC: MBC -- hdmi -- Denon AV Receiver -- hdmi -- HD TV Questions: * Sorry for the heavy MBC comparison, but that's all i know. 1. With MBC (and LAV or ffdshow filters) I usually get "DTS-HD" or "TruHD" displayed on my AV Receiver during playback of my Bluray rips. In XBMB3C, it is all DTS. I've enabled audio passthrough in the XBMB3C advanced audio settings. Any way to configure to have the lossless codecs available? 2. I use Local trailers plugin in MBC for trailers. Is there anything like this in XBMB3C? 3. I use Video/TV/Music/Song Theme plugins (by Radeon) in MBC. Is there a way to use it in XBMB3C? 4. Is there a keyboard/remote shortcut map I can use to program my Harmony remote to be more effective(subtitle, audio selection, etc) in XBMB3C? Thanks a ton! After enabling passthrough, did you scroll down and indicate your amp is DTS-HD and True HD capable? 2. What are you looking to accomplish here? All it shows is "DTS capable" (no DTSHD or True HD): 2. in MBC/WMC there is a choice to play a trailer once I enter a movie's description. Regarding 1, You probably need to change the passthrough output device to one of the hdmi or spdif options. I use wasapi hdmi. Is Confluence one of the most used ones, the oldest of the bunch? I believe Confluence is the native xbmc skin. I am using the 1080xf skin right now. I thought i'd have hard time transitioning from the MBC eye candy themes that i am so used to. From get-go I've noticed Confluence had CoverArts plugin which I am sure will be part of all other skins. Thank you. I haven't had much time to play around, but the oct21st build of helix seems to be working nicely. I actually switched from gotham because I was getting choppy video on a tv show I watched the other day. Plays fine in kodi/helix - but I haven't actually played anything else yet, so.... If you have an iphone/ipad, you should check out Roomie Remote. Will cost you a few bucks, but puts the harmony remotes to shame in terms of support, ease of setup and functionality. Is has a native xbmc support, so all kinds of mappings exist already. plus it shows the time duration when something is playing. Now i can enjoy the DTS-HD and True-HD! It was the first I worked on when the addon was first released, I wanted a skin that supported some of the widget stuff and it was the skin I thought would be easiest for transitioning users. It does not have all the features of some of the newer skins and probably never will, it is a stepping stone, test the waters and then move on sort of skin. While I like it and have continued my personal version in a separate fork I don't think it will ever be updated with everything that ever gets added to the main addon. I think it is still functional and works with everything that it currently supports and I don't expect that to change so it is still a valid option if you like what it does. I have not had the time to try the other skins yet. Like you said, get familiarized first and then move on if needed. Having said that, Confluence is very clean and intuitive, love that! Having 2 issues though which i am not sure Skin, XBMC or XBMB3C or MBS related: 1. Search feature always shows 0 results for content i know is there 2. I created 2 profiles(with corresponding MBS logins) to mimic MBC's profile initial selection. However, my kids' profile sometimes shows my other profile's libraries and backdrops and vice-a-versa.
