Hey everyone :) New to Emby coming from Plex. I wish I would’ve switched over to Emby sooner cause I appreciate the customization and focus on personal media. Please don’t change! The focus on moving away from personal media is what drove me away from Plex (even though I have a lifetime Plex Pass).   @Carlo

That said, I do have just a few questions.

1. I know of the Bulky Metadata plugin, but is it possible to hide all ratings or disable the community ratings for all of my movies and tv shows entirely? I don’t have IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes enabled so this is nearly perfect for me (I hate ratings for my own personal media). I can do this manually but with all the media I have, it would take a very long time to edit metadata one by one. Any tips here will be much appreciated!

2. On Android TV is it possible to use CSS customization? I’m mainly running Emby on my Sony X90J and it’s pretty flawless, just wondering if this is possible for a few UI tweaks I would like to make.

3. On the Android TV app, is it possible to disable “up next” from TV series view? I personally don’t like seeing episode thumbnails of episodes I haven’t watched, and would love to disable this in the TV series view.

4. Why can’t emby Direct Play VC-1 codec on Android TV? Some of my older blu-rays and TV shows use this codec and it seems to always be problematic.

Thanks in advance for your help! Overall I’m super happy with the switch to Emby :) No major playback issues and great UI/ customization. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Me too, and I used to be involved with Plex and used to be a Ninja as well. I added Emby around 2014/2015 so I was running both at the same time. Emby was a little rough back then but my family was split using some Emby clients (ie Android TV) and some Plex clients (Roku) so it worked. Slowly I saw more and more Emby usage and less Plex. I personally was almost completely off Plex while still actively supporting Plex in the forums. But, choice after choice or feature after feature released by Plex held my early belief that they were moving in a new direction and the split in functionality/how my family used both was becoming more pronounced. Plex was already irritating and rubbed me the wrong (ie users belonged to Plex, not the server owner) and the day I knew that monetization was close at hand (about 1.5 years before the public knew) it became too much for me. The "straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak. That was well over 6 years ago. I switched everyone over to purely using Emby, embraced it rough edges and at (at the time) and never looked back.  My only regret is not doing it earlier! :)

Being honest, neither system is perfect but one aligns with my vision of a personal media server and one clearly doesn't for my needs.  I'm always glad to see a fellow convert, but have to ask, what took you so long? LOL

To answer your questions, no I don't think it's possible to remove those across the board in all apps. Yes it can be done for web apps using CSS.

CSS is only used for web apps and not dedicated device apps like Android, Android TV, Google TV or Fire TV.

For the 3rd question, can you elaborate a bit more exactly what you're wanting to do or Emby not do?  There is the ability to turn some things off in regard to "play next" but want to make sure I answer you correctly.

What device are you running Android TV on?  Does it have built in support for VC-1?

PS Keep in mind we have a feature request section on here that you can take advantage off. If we don't support something or you have a great idea for a new feature request, be sure to start a new thread for it. Just do a search first to make sure someone hasn't already had the same idea or request. If you find an existing thread on said feature, get involved and make sure to +1 the first message of the thread which shows us the popularity of requestion. That's just one metric used but an important one no less.
