RonB26 1
Hi @TeamB I'm having a problem with Live TV (direct stream) freezing up Kodi when stopping playback. It'll freeze up solid after pressing the stop button. The strange thing is it plays just fine otherwise. After extensive troubleshooting, I've narrowed down a problem with playing live TV directly. If I set Embycon to transcode Mpeg4 it will work fine other than the long delay before playing. Maybe this is a Kodi issue with direct streams. I did try the latest 20.1 nightly, and it did not help. The second issue is with the context menu when going to play a music video. When selecting a music video, there is no "Play" option in the context menu. If I select "Info" the is an option in that menu. If I use the Kodi context menu, the "Play" button is there. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks! Kodi 20.1 Stable. Embycon latest version for Kodi Nexus

Embycon latest version for Kodi Nexus 20 yeah that does sound a little like kodi is having issues with the original format of the tv stream. what is the original format? how are you setting it to mpeg4? the missing context play item i will look into. RonB26 1
This is what the Emby server screen shows: Stream ->Direct Play Video 1080i MPEG2VIDEO -> Direct Play (15 mbps) Audio English AC3 5.1 -> Direct Play (384 kbps) I Made a typo with the first post. It should have been Transcode mpeg2 in the Embycon settings not mpeg4
TeamB 2352
what platform are you running on, i.e. what device do you have Kodi running on? I have noticed some weirdness when playing back mpeg2 on my Libreelec 11.1 on raspberry pi 4 devices, small 5 to 10 sec locks ups and crashes. RonB26 1
Nvidia shield 2019. What's strange is it seems better with 1080p broadcasts than with 480p the latter will freeze up everytime. 1080p is about every 2-3 times. Wheni have Embycon force transcode. I have no lockups at all.
TeamB 2352
this to me suggestes kodi is having issues. can you reproduce this on you desktop or laptop running kodi?
RonB26 1
Yeah, I agree. It's probably either Kodi or Android. It could also be that I'm running version 8.2.1 on my shield because the newer versions were full of bugs/issues. I'm not willing to update it, it's not worth the other issues I'd likely be facing. Anyway, I'll give it a try on my windows laptop just to test. But that'll be tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
RonB26 1
Just an update. I ended up having to buy a new laptop to test, as my older one was unable to run Kodi. Anyway, running Kodi 20.1 on Windows does have the same lockup with TV. however it has a short delay, and stops. So I thought I would just wait with the Nvidia shield and see if it would also stop. Sure enough, after a 3-5 minute wait it stops as well. So it isn't hanging Kodi, it just locks it up for 3-5 minutes, and then it's usable again. The strangest thing is that it doesn't always do this. sometimes it works as it should. Maybe in the next stable (20.2) this will be sorted. The missing "play" button for concerts is easily dealt with by selecting "info" in the context menu, and the option to play is there.
