Hello,

I tested a "new" EPG XML provider that has a good price, if you need only a few channels.

xmltv.host

But it did not work with Emby Xml TV.
After the setup of the Xml TV Provider and an EPG update, I could not map anything to the channel: The "Guide data channel" field was empty

I did a few tests with the provided file and and an WebGrabPlus export.
The channel part of the XML file was different.

WebGrabPlus (working)

...

    <display-name lang="de">Das Erste</display-name>
    <icon src="https://images.tvtoday.de/sender/small/ard.png" />

...

xmltv.host (not wroking)

...

<icon src="https://static.epg.best/de/ARD.de.png"/>

...

xmltv.host is using the tag
instead of <display-name>
I changed the tag from "name" to "display-name" and it worked.

Is there a way to configure the tag that Emby is looking for in the XML EPG files?
Unfortunately there is absolute no support on xmltv.host side - of course: cheap=no support :)
And I won't change the tag manually after every update ;)

PS: Yes, I know... no where in the documentation you find this provider marked as usable for Emby - so I'm just asking if this is possible.

Thanks a lot.

it would be impossible for us to keep track of every single provider out there, so the important thing is, we support the xmltv format: http://wiki.xmltv.org/index.php/XMLTVFormat

If your provider follows that format, then it should work in Emby Server.

Thanks Luke.

At least we know that this provider doesn't work with Emby :)

Why do you think it doesn't work with Emby?

You mean the export files of the xmltv.host provider?

With the XML files of xmltv.host the "Guide data channel" field is empty and could not be filled. (see problem.jpg)

After I changed the tag from
to <display-name> it worked. (ok.jpg)

So maybe there was just a misunderstanding.
The problem is because of the XML file of this provider, not because of Emby :)

UPDATE: I contacted xmltv.host provider and recognized this problem. He might change this.
I'll write a short notice here, if it works than...

Thanks

Oracle

Out of curiousity, what is the quality of this IPTV service?

Looking to move away from YTTV, and this is nice because I can select which channels I specifically want.

Hmm I can't really tell, because so far the list don't work with Emby.

Ordering and the usage of the webportal was easy.
There is no technical support and you can't customize the list (just select the tv channels and than export) like at epg.best.

Positive is, that I got a response because of the format. But so far no feedback that they fixed it.
So the list can't be used in Emby!

Just a short update.

The EPG XmlTV Liste of https://xmltv.host/ is now working with Emby 🙌

I checked the quality of the data and so far it fits my need.
If you only need or have a few channel, this provider is perfect for a very good price.
