Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode guide data is wrong

I have a library comprised of talk shows with folders for DVR recording as well as acquired elsewhere. The archive library pull meta from TVDB which has correct info, see latest S21E74, but the live tv meta (from schedules direct?) is showing the same episode as S20E241. This show airs 4 days a week with holiday breaks and such, so it's impossible to have over 200 episodes in a season and this is wrong. Not sure how they determine these season and episode number metadatas, but this is pretty clearly wrong and as a result the library is unable to merge these episodes (with the dropdown for video quality selection), so they appear as separate files and are both returned in smart playlist results. Not seeing this as an issue with other talk shows, or haven't noticed it. Is there a way to get guide source to fix this?

This is a tough situation, and it comes up occasionally for certain series.

In this case, it is ABC itself that is supplying guide vendors with the Season 20 Episode 2xx info.If the network supplies this info, guide providers usually won't (or can't by contract) change it.  Meanwhile metadata providers create their own season and episode numbers based on the way season/episodes are generally done for all other shows.

This creates a situation of having mixed sources of guide info that are both legit. This isn't something Emby can automatically fix for you as we would need some type of cross reference table setup for series like this and to the best of my knowledge doesn't exist.

The only way I could think of fixing this issue would be creating some scripting or little util program that could be called after recording finishes that checks the recording series to see if there is a cross-reference Season:Episode table entry. Example in plain language would be to check and see if "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" exists in the reference table with a Season=20 & Episode=241. If so, the cross-reference result would be Season=21, Episode74 which could be used to both rename the file as well as replace current guide metadata with info pulled from tvdb or similar. Alternately, if using a 3rd party guide in XML format you could adjust the guide data before loading it.
