Isn't 4.9 the smart playlist release ? Is that still happening n?

We are 40 builds in and haven't heard a peep about smart playlists yet. If TVNext is planned for 4.10 I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing it in 2025 or even 2026.

100% need faster switching, TiviMate is extremely fast but missing the server features of emby.

I'd totally pay more if the emby folks could get the channels to switch as fast as TiviMate.

It would be awesome if Emby could get live tv even close to being on par with TiviMate; I've paid for two lifetime subscriptions to TiviMate, but would prefer to use Emby for all of my media instead of switching apps or inputs. Sadly, I don't see Emby's live tv implementation being able to compete with the UI, usability or responsiveness of TiviMate any time in the near future. Recordings also don't seem to get dropped as often through TiviMate when compared to Emby if there's a slight hiccup in the stream.

So much negativity, i pay for emby, do I wish emby had additional or better features? Sure, but I don't complain because I ain't contributing to the development.

Instead of complaining have yall thought about contributing?!?

Personally I am grateful for the developers and looking forward to the continued updates.

Negativity happens when the beta testing for this started in May 2020. Yep, Covid time.

I've contributed by paying for my lifetime license in full. Beyond that, if I were going to spend my time supporting a project then it would be a free and open source one like Jellyfin. Considering Emby is a closed-source, proprietary software product I'm not sure how you would expect such considerable outside contributions in the first place? I'm sure something could be shoehorned in through the plugin system, but at that point it'd be better off as it's own separate software.

Emby's live TV worked well enough when I first started using it in 2020. A lot has changed in 5 years and many companies have evolved, but Emby's live TV offering has remained pretty much stagnant and fallen way behind in that time.

So which do you think is better for Emby here?
1). Users to express their frustrations and give Emby some feedback on where the system is lacking while trying to stick with it.
2). Give up on Emby entirely and silently move onto better things.

Personally, in hindsight I kinda wish I had gone straight to the second option instead of wasting so much time with the first.
