dma_k 1
Dear community, I am using Emby app v3.2.82 with Emby server 4.8.0.12. I have located so far the following issues: When adding a new server, I have entered the URL "https://emby.somedomain.com" and cleared the port. App was able to connect to the server, but next time I start the app it fails to connect with below message. tcpdump shows that app does not attempt to connect to the server. My assumption is that the saved connection profile is somehow mutated when saved or loaded (port is messed up?). The shown error reads that server needs to be updated. First of all it is misleading, as I was able to connect to the server initially. Second it has a not-nice-looking URL. When I try to remove the server using context menu, nothing happens: When I enter the "Downloads" and press "Back" it is expected that I go back to in the main (root) menu, however application closes (unexpected). Luke 37046
Hi, does your emby server dashboard display the same address that you entered into the android app?
dma_k 1
When I open dashboard (e.g. https://emby.somedomain.com/web/index.html#!/dashboard), then it displays the local address (e.g. http://192.168.2.1:8096/). If that address ends up in the app profile, then it will not work since the setting Allow remote connections to this Emby Server is off in settings. Luke 37046
This is a remote connection though, right?
dma_k 1
Well, I am not sure. At the moment of testing Emby Server and Emby app are in the same local network. Since direct connections are not allowed to Emby Server, all communication should happen via Apache which acts as a forward-proxy. Apache correctly handles all communication on https://emby.somedomain.com/ and Emby app correctly behaves (displays all libraries and content) once I add a new server, but after App is closed and opened it magically messes it up. Very likely the app tries connecting to https://emby.somedomain.com:8096/ which is not I have configured.
Luke 37046
OK let's put it this way. Does the emby server dashboard display the addresses that you want it to use?
dma_k 1
No, the dashboard displays the IP address, while I would prefer the hostname. I didn't find the option to configure that, did I miss it?
