Thank you for your hard work in development. I love it.

json creation succeeds in English title, but if it is a Japanese title name, the json file becomes '-S1E1.json' and is overwritten one after another. Is there any solution?

Cheese, were you able to have a look at that?

I also have some Animes which have their original name in the filename, can do some testing if you need anyone to test your solution. 😉

Hi @Cheesegeezer, just checking in on this.
Any update regarding the "special characters" within the filename?

Now the new beta is up, i will work on this. I’m assuming this is for Anime as discussed previously in this thread.

Do you guys usually have a separate folder, or do you need to use specific providers to get the episode info? I’m just working out a way to attack this

In my case it's actually an Anime but I use the "regular" info providers, iirc as follows:

1. TVDB
2. TMDB
3. (...)

Does that help?

yeah it does help me understand use cases, thanks.  But it doesn't help me figure out a solution hahaha. This issue is windows doesn't like writing special characters to the file name and will fail to write the json file.  Now i could easily add this to write to the nfo file, because it doesn't matter what the internal file name is, but then it doesn't matter about that because the nfo relies on the providerId to restore those.   So it is only affecting the JSON output.

leave it with me. i'll scratch the one brain cell i have and see if it gets stimulated lol :D

Ah that's interesting.
I'm actually on Linux (Ubuntu) and could give it a try (haven't done that yet) to see if it works fine there.
Would a log help you somehow?

Thanks Neik, a log might help after i figure out a way to do this. But essentially it's what the OS allows, so probably not.

you could try creating a text file and copying the name of the the anime in Japanese and pasting that as the file name name and save it.  See if Linux throws an error

Hi everyone

My thought is that providers use translated titles in some displays.
Would it be possible to force the usage of English language for the file naming ?
Or even the show or movie ID.
But what if the show or movie does not have an ID ?
Or if ID is th same number but with 2 different providers....

Many questions no ?

Hope I'm clear.
If not, feel free to notice me.

That was actually another theory I had that, somewhere Emby stores the translated title in the metadata.

I'm not interested in Anime, but i would love to get this working.  So if you guys can figure out where i can get a non-special character Series Title from, i can start to use that.

@neik @elpoolet

I would like you guys to help if possible - can you reply here with your Japanese Titles please.  Just copy and paste them, so i can copy and paste and import and do some testing, before next release.

That would be great.

Hi @Cheesegeezer

I don't have much Japanese TV shows.

I got : Dragon Ball + Z + GT + Super, World's End Harem.

But the files are named with "latin" characters.

Some series are named with the French title and accentuated characters are just stripped out.

Example : "Jayce et les Conquérants de la lumière" become : "Jayce et les Conqurants de la lumire".
"Amicalement vôtre" become : "Amicalement vtre"
"Échappées Belles" become : "chappes Belles"

The only possible issue in this naming rule is : what could happen if the whole title is with non "base latin" characters ie not in the ranges 48-57; 65-90;97-122 and 20 from the ascii table.

A little suggestion : as the TVDBID, or IMDBID or TMDBID is known when the file is written, why not using this ID to construct the filename

example : "TVDBID-190965_Amicalement vtre_S1E6.json"
With this rule if the Serie title is made of non basic characters it could be : "TVDBID-65535__S1E3.json"

And if the TVDBID is not known (which is very unlikely), you can use IMDBID instead or TMDBID.
Another workaround is to use the "English translated title" (I don't know if this data is available) whatever the language of Emby.

I hope I'm quite clear, and it could help

What are your thoughts on this ?

I have added in code to deal with diacratics now (accents etc) adding the TVID, TMDBID would be easy but i don't see the point.

i just need a title written in japanese/chinese to see how the plugin handles this now.

Cheers

It's in japanese.
Taken from the TMDB site : https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/12971

Hope this could help.

Ok thanks. I have no idea what to do with that at the moment. Can you add column headers please. I am assuming the tvbd numbers that it are season  then episode?

Header doesn't format very well. I will look at bit more at the node.js files tomorrow to see what its doing. It might be easier to extract straight from plex db rather that a middle software and then parse into correct format json for emby.

I see you edits your post with headers. It makes sense now. I can easily add this. But you will have to be my chief tester.

but I’m not touching any of my plugins at the moment until 4.8.1 Release is launched. So it may be a little while before i get round to this 👍

Yes no trouble. I'm not sure what the timestamp format is here though but atleast you can make sense of this. I'm not sure if we can convert something better than plex://episode/5e35de683dd22f003d9a7ebc as it relates to a plex internal id.

yeah, but it would need to be a standard output format and is this available output from tge plex plugin?

nope, we have no visibility to their db.

what is required is a portable/transportable output that is saved as a json, xml or stored in the items NFO file and is standardised by plex.

b) when the Core team eventually complete the required basics from the Introskip core feature - they store the Introskip data in the NFO or if this plugin has been used/restored - it's already in there  - the same as they do all the other metadata/custom metadata.   It can then be automatically imported on a new build - again, in exactly the same was as the NFO is read today.  My view is keep things consistent and stop trying to have bespoke solutions for each function ..

I use the NFO version of the Introskip backup/restore - it works great. (so thanks!... as always..) :)

When using NFO do the values get written into the existent NFO next to the actual files?
If so, does Emby pick up the values automatically meanwhile or do I need to use the plugin to restore?

I will be moving my server to new hardware in a week or two and am interested in moving this info (intro/credit) over without rescanning again.
