Good Evening,

I need help and please bare with me as I have limited knowledge of the system.  I recently updated unraid and ever since, have been unable to access my files through emby.  I reinstalled emby and managed to get tv shows scanned and working fine however movies won;t scan at all and i am unable to get them to scan into my emby library at all.  They are located on the same NAS system as the TV shows.

I have attached the log as follows -

Port Mapper should have nothing to do with libraries.

What library paths do you have setup?

402 errors with UPnP is apparently common.  It seems to have something do with the order of the commands causing timeouts.  A similar issues is discussed in detail - https://community.ezlo.com/t/dlna-media-controller-plugin-common-library-for-upnp-av/177228/25?page=2   It was solved with a patch to stop UPnP from failing and timing out.

thanks mate.  I had a look and it is completely over my head what I need to do

Can you restart server, run full library scan and attach that log.

But the portmapper errors should be irrelevant.  Personally would disable portmapper and manually port forward for remote access.

The is definitely something with your SMB paths.  You sure the paths are accessible?

I can still access them on the laptop and add to them etc.  for some reason the old path I used to use - /mnt/user/TV_Shows and /mnt/user/Movies only shows a couple of files and not all and wont scan at all hence why I had to change it to the current path.

Linux server rights for every file depends on user login and group assignment for that user.  If you have some files that are group limited visible, then one user assigned to the same group that can see it and another user assigned to a different group cannot see the files.  Perhaps your notebook has some rights and the general remote user login is assigned to the group nobody which has different rights.  When we ask you to check rights, just saying on login sees one thing, but remote users cannot, does not answer the access rights.  You still may have access right group conflicts because perhaps some of the files were added as root or as an admin.  Those files maintain the group rights.

I'm sorry that probably does not make sense.  I think your access rights are causing the problem and you are not checking them correctly.

Thanks for that - where can I go to fix the access rights?

Hi, have you taken a look at this?

Checking all rights for a directory from a shell command would be ls -a
See: https://www.rapidtables.com/code/linux/ls.html

The Linux command to update user rights is chmod and user groups can also be done, but you actually don't really want to do this groups of files.  More info on how user rights work is at https://www.redhat.com/sysadmin/introduction-chmod

Use ls -a to spot possible issues where User rights are limited on whatever file that Emby could not read.   It is not ideal to try to fix user or group rights by forcing a change to files, because if the groups or user rights are causing the problem, then any updates could recreate files with the wrong user rights and bring the problems back again.  In the original setup, maybe something was not run correctly, perhaps the install was forced without root access or some library update failed and no one noticed.  If you see rights issues, the appropriate way to fix it might be to reinstall correctly.  I have not setup and run Emby on Linux, so I really don't have a good suggestion.  Listen to everyone else commenting on what to do.

In general if someone suggests there is a file access issue with Linux, it's likely to be correct.  Every single file has rights controls and they are difficult to figure out unless you have worked with chmod and groups.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.  Please excuse my complete lack of knowledge as I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.  Where do I access the commands? unraid? emby server?  I am happy for you to remote access?  I am worried I'm going to completely ruin it
