Not sure where the issue lies but it pertains to Synology network visibility. Emby works perfectly but I am more appealing for help from the network guru’s out there.
I am in UK using Virgin Media as my ISP. I was never happy with the router so I decided to move their router to modem mode and installed my own NETGEAR Nighthawk AX6 router.   All works well. I can connect to the NAS, I can see it connected to the world. I can play the content on other devices in my network like tv and iPads.
What is now broken is the ability to see the NAS on the Network and explorer with a windows pc.  I have mapped drives to the folder structure like \\NAS\Films. These no longer work. I use this method to maintain the file system and add content. The NAS is plugged into the same port via Ethernet on the now modem. SMB is enabled.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

The IP addresses of your NAS and your PC didn't changed ?

Can you connect to the NAS in http with the PC ?

Does the user connecting to the NAS have the rights (read & write) to the EMBY Folders

Yes I have static ip set up on NAS so no change. PC not sure. That is dynamic. No config change made on the NAS. I can use a browser to connect to that 192.168  ip, see the desktop and also open emby and play files. I can also use FileZilla to transfer files if needed but would like to know why and fix this issue.
Emby has no issue here. It can access and play files. The only issue is network visibility of the NAS.

Ok I decided to move the Ethernet cable for the NAS to a different port even though I never moved it in the first place and both sides were rebooted. moved it to the NETGEAR router. Inexplicably it worked!  I can now see the NAS on the network and can access via explorer even though it definitely had network access in the first place. However, that move broke my sftp and http access. I restarted the NAS to be sure.
I then added another hub into this and it reverted back to sftp and http working but explorer not working.
I have now returned to the original config so NAS plugged into virgin router configured as a hub and NETGEAR router plugged into virgin “hub”.  I have http and sftp access as before with no explorer access.
One more thing there is an extender in the mix here. No idea if it makes any difference. The ssid and password are all the same regardless. I have checked http access from both and it works.
So to sum up, NAS in hub I have http access but no explorer. NAS plugged into router no http but explorer ok.
I hope you chaps can help here as it makes no sense to me.

Thanks FrostByte. I did go through them but nothing worked. It should be noted that by moving the NAS Ethernet from virgin hub to NETGEAR router moves the problem around between explorer access to http access. I don’t see how it can be related to the client pc or NAS?  I feel I am missing something simple on the NETGEAR side.  I can’t think of anything special done on the original virgin router either.

Simple really when you finally spot a pattern…

Virgin uses 192.168.0 range. NETGEAR uses 192.168.1 range. My NAS static ip was in the virgin range. Unbelievable!  Changed the static ip and plugged it into NETGEAR. I now see it in my network as well as all other access now working.
Sorry to have essentially wasted your time on this.
