SMTV91 6
Whenever I try to log in via emby connect on a remote PC/device (ie firestick) or via server local or remote address for the first time or even on my laptop on my home network I get the attached error screen. Devices already logged in to emby have no issue maintaining the remote connection. I have followed the remote connecting guide and troubleshoot, have a port forward setup, emby allowed through firewall, both ports 8920 and 8096 visible on cayouseeme.org and a static IP assigned etc and nothing. I also tried following some of the other solutions people have reported worked for them (see below) but so far nothing. Have a tracert screen shot ready too if needed. This wasn't a problem up until maybe a month ago as I have set up home devices with emby as well as friends family connecting remotely with no issue. I'm hoping this can be fixed without having to sign for zerotier/tailscale but if I must then I must. Can anyone provide any help? (Would I be able to get a mod to help with a remote session? ) Thanks in advance! Solution Luke 37060 Posted August 30, 2022 Solution Share Posted August 30, 2022 Hi there, have you setup SSL on your Emby Server? You'll need that when trying to use the https version of app.emby.media If you haven't setup SSL, then try the plain http version at http://app.emby.media
SMTV91 6
@Luke I feel like an absolute idiot now...I didn't even notice the https symbol showing up as I was so used to clicking a bookmark but recently wiped my laptop and started typing in the website. That fixes one problem but what about the few times I'm not able to log in on a new device and choose my server? I get the same error message. 1
