I think I got an idea how this works. (Haven't tested the plugin yet, do you have a link?)

Looks it uses the remote control functions (which are already implemented by the plugin), but the subscriptions must be added.

fyi:

It's still on the feature list for 8.x version (which is no even under development yet). So that's a log term shot, however I thought how this could be realized.

I think it is possible between emby-next-gen clients. Maybe, the "master" needs admin privileges. Next-gen would need information about all active sessions. It's basically a user/device list of all currently online next-gen connections. With this information the Emby messaging api can be used for device intercommunication. Everything else (remote playback etc) is already integrated in next-gen.

btw,

probably also possible to control non-next-gen devices, but the (invite) confirmation would be tricky.

Will be added in 8.X

You are saying "Watch Together" will be implemented in Emby for Kodi in 8.x?
Did I get that right?

i already download and installed 8v, how do I make watch together works just for a test.

Thanks

- Watch together feature (currently) works only for next-gen clients in 8.x versions (available via context menu -> Emby options). 3rd party clients which support remote controlling can be participants in one of the next versions (with some limitations).

3rd party clients. There is nothing to configure and it not "an app". Every emby app supporting remote functionalities will be compatible (with limitations)

Thanks I got it working, given the short pace of time that you develop this in Kodi, one would wonder why it has taken such a long time to implement on the emby server as this would have been the best place to control client devices instead of using Kodi.

Anyway thanks for the efforts and supports

Any tips on what to do if “Add client” does no yield a dialogue box?

Do you use an admin account connection the Kodi box to Emby server? It sounds like a permission issue.

If yes, send me a Kodi debug log via PM, thanks.
