bardmaster 17
Hi folks, I have an odd one! When I have SSA/ASS subs enabled, whether by default or manually, on my Roku Ultra BUT NOT my RokuTV or Roku2, the video fails to start with Emby Server 4.7.5. This is with "Burn in SSA subtitles" = Yes, though toggling this seems to make no difference. With a prior server version (last year?) I HAD run into a similar-looking fail issue, where the video tries to load and gets stuck at 33% for about 5 tries before it says "Too many errors, moving on..." which the Burn in SSA subtitles = Yes fixed the problem at the time. I was able to replicate the issue with several different video files, all MKV with muxed ASS subs. Running these same videos without subs works fine. Other subtitle formats, like SUBRIP and SRT, seem to work fine. And again, this behavior ONLY happens on my Roku Ultra, not my other Roku devices. After I restored the server to my last version (4.6.7) it is working fine. Also I noticed that toggling the Burn SSA on the Roku still makes no difference (it still works after turning this to No). Attached are my logfiles for each scenario below, with Emby for Roku debugging ON (login = Matrix): Roku Ultra FAIL: Server: 4.7.5 Emby for Roku on Roku Ultra: 4.0.55 (Roku version 11.0.0 4.1.93-06) Roku Ultra PASS: Server: 4.6.7 Emby for Roku on Roku Ultra: 4.0.55 (Roku version 11.0.0 4.1.93-06) Pass tests on other devices (these pass regardless of server version): Server 4.7.5 Emby for Roku on RokuTV: 4.0.55 (Roku version 11.0.0 4.1.93-08) Emby for Roku on Roku2: 4.0.55 (Roku version 11.0.0 4.1.93-04) Let me know how I can help, though I imagine such an isolated issue will be low priority. For now I will stick with 4.6.7 which has been very steady and reliable. Have you updated to Emby Server 4.7.6? Hi @Luke, thanks for checking in. I just tried upgrading to 4.7.6 and the same situation occurs. Here are the Rokus which get the 33% failure when SSA subs are enabled (and fine when disabled): Roku Ultra Roku Streaming Stick (3600X) Here are the Rokus which work fine: Roku 2 Roku 3 Go figure, right? bardmaster 17
OK so...I retried with SSA subs on and "Burn in SSA subtitles" OFF, and everything is working fine. Go figure, I thought I had tested that thoroughly.
