I fixed the problem by disabling MVP what ever that is you should remove it if your not going to update it. @Luke

Keep in mind that using native player, almost all MKV HEVC content is transcoded. But at least it works.

I’m having this same issue on AppleTV 4K and have selected a stereo track. Oddly enough the server shows it as playing, but just a black screen with no audio.  Any plans for updating the MPV player?

Hi, have you tried the Emby for Apple TV 1.6.1 update?

Still no dynamic range and framerate match using the MPV player, scenes are still too dark, tone mapping is not acceptable, looks very different using HDR passthrough, and the native player still requires transcoding.

This bug introduced a few months ago has been fixed, but we are still as it was several months ago.

What does MVP do? I turned it off

The mpv player can support more formats without server transcoding.

Same Problem here. 4k HDR does not work..irrelevant of the audio

4k without HDR works fine.

App Version: 1.6.1 de

Server Version: 4.7.5.0

when will this be fixed?

Hi, you need to disable the mpv option in the app for HDR.

Does not work either.

4k HDR with DTS worked a few month ago. the video was on direct play and the DTS stream was transcoded to ac3.

/edit:

it is not a fix to disable a fundamental function of this app...in my eyes

HI, mpv currently doesn't support it, so that's why the native player is required. But we're working on making that decision making more automatic.

the native player does not work.

or the server wont start to transcode the stream, that is nessesary to play the file.

what was changed a few month ago? at this state it worked...

not perfect, but it worked

I'm wondering, is passthroughing hdr still technically not possible with mpv, or is it like DTS, so you just have to go on developing for it?

Not supported with mpv. They have to change the rendering completely to support it, and they've been working on it for a couple years. I'm sure they'll eventually get there. The best approach for us using it is to utilize the native player whenever possible, and make sure that mpv is tone mapping when it is used.

As far as I understand it, you can either play an 4K HDR MP4 in the native player, or play most files in the mpv player. Mpv player does not do HDR and frame rate match. Seems they are waiting on MPV to support HDR before they can do anything, so no real solution for HDR mkv files on the horizon.

Personally, I use infuse for HDR files and Emby for everything else.
