When I'm watching my photos in the Tizen App (just installed the latest version 1.2.9) then they are rendered at extreme low resolution.

Detail from the log (full log is attached):

For the past couple of months, photos viewed on the Samsung TV app are all very low-resolution. They displayed correctly a few months ago.

These are photos organized in a folder configured as a photo library, created using the "Home videos & photos" content type.

Here are some comparison screenshots, with cropped versions of the full image to better illustrate the resolution difference:

Any news on this? It's the same problem I had reported here. It's still not working in the latest version of the app (1.3.4).

This bug makes the photo part of the app totally useless. And beside my personal movie collection, home videos and photos are the only reasons why I'm using emby at all.

Its the same in the Android app - presumably related to the quality=90 setting. Hopefully this can be improved all round as I need 100% quality as I also only use emby for home videos and photos

Hi, I'm having the same thing on my Samsung Smart TV.  I've been using Emby for some time now and it always worked fine but for some reason now only shows photos in low resolution. Everything else is fine though. Interestingly my Roku express on the same TV works fine though so I suspect its something to with the Samsung Tizen) app. Incidentally I'm using version 1.3.5.  Any help gratefully appreciated.

Hi, further to my post of two months ago regarding the low resolutions of photos in the Samsung Tizen app, I am now using release 1.4.6 and sadly there is no improvement. Is there any chance of a resolution anytime soon? Emby is a such great programme which works fine through Roku and other apps but not on my 2017 Samsung TV. It worked fine before 1.2.6 so I wonder what changed. Be grateful for any help you may be able to give.

Hi Luke,

I've just upgraded to version 1.4.9 for Samsung "015 to present. My particular Samsung is a 2017 model purchased early in 2018.  Unfortunately the photo section of the app is still not working. It appears to be selecting the thumbnail rather than the jpg file. I'm using a Synology NAS and embey works fine through Roku but not the Samsung and hasn't now since before 1.2.6. Any suggestions - am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks for your help

Regards

+1 having this issue on Android.

Was hoping to move all my vacations pictures/albums to my homeserver since I can always remotely collect to display them. But the image quality is really bad.

The images look perfect on the SmartTV LG app though.

I first posted back in September  details of the problem I was having getting Emby to read my photo files correctly on my Samsung 2017 TV. A problem I notice others have been having as well. It looks as though Emby is reading the Thumbnails and not the actual photo files as the images are very low resolution. I wonder is there any chance of this problem being resolved soon as Emby is pretty useless at the moment for looking at any of my photos. Seems a pity as in all other aspects its a great programme and I would like to stick with it.

Any Suggestions?

Regards

I'm getting this issue too on the IOS app. Photo quality is heavily downgraded. Can you add an option to have 100 percent photo quality, or rather have 100 percent quality as default? Also when you swipe across all the photos go black and flicker. Pretty unusable as it currently stands 😕

They do say that patience is a virtue and one certainly needs it when waiting for our Samsung  Emby app to deliver 100% photo quality. This last worked around 1.2.5 and we are now up to 1.5.3. Still we can only live in hope and trust that the good folk at emby will sort this out in due course.

Well, it's been more than a year since I reported this problem here in this thread. Just installed version 1.5.6 and the problem with very low photo resolution is still there.

Also, it's been more than three months since you said "this should be resolved for the next updates".

Watching movies and my family's phots/videos on TV were the primary reasons why I decided for emby. It's a little disappointing that I can't use this feature for more than a year, I must admit.

Why is it so hard to fix, that the app request photos in a proper resolution from the emby server? The problem seems so tiny and is clearly to see in the logs I provided a year ago.

I really must second lejared's post.  I've reported this several times and have waited patiently for this fault to be fixed. If there is a major problem it would be helpful if you could say so or explain why a key function of the programme hasn't worked, at least on some models, for over a year.

Really would appreciate your help and response to this one.
