So you have Emby Theater on a Windows machine where there's an audio delay during video playback, but when playing games on the same machine, there's no delay?

No audio delay on anything....emby theatre or otherwise.

Oh, I'm very sorry, I thought you were @albertlosbecause of the same icon color - that's why I've been asking this way.

Seriously..... Where is this feature?!? Over 2 years of requesting it on this thread alone is crazy!

It exists in Emby Theater Desktop for a long time and the new Emby Windows beta has it as well (allowing static adjustments in the settings).

I've fixed the issue on my side for my JBL earbuds!

I just found it on reddit for my JBL earbuds.

Apparently you can set in the JBL app the settings to VIDEO. This fixed the delay when streaming Emby.

I also find out that you can fix it on PC (windows 10 and 11) by disabling all enhancements (although none were turned on, ticking the box like below, fixed the problem).

search for sound settings > choose your output device > device properties > additional device properties, gave me below window.

Awesome. I knew that it just can't be true that so many devices are not suitable for watching video.

@generiq  Does the change regarding the enhancements also fix delay on your Flip 4?

To reiterate, though, there are many of us with setups and delays that aren't fixable - having audio delay functionality built in to Emby (as it is on so many other platforms, as reported above) would be very helpful to many users, i.e. your 'consideration #2' above.

Heck, I've even had sync issues without using bt.

Yes, but you will surely agree that it would be beneficial for everybody when no such adjustments are needed in the first place (whenever possible).

So please guys, help us getting to the ground of this and try whether disabling enhancements will fix audio delay for you.

Makes sense because the enhancements are not specific to Bluetooth.

Even without enhancements. Sometimes the file is just bad in that regard.

Granted. See discussion above.

But in my case (Realtek onboard audio) it doesn't cause any noticeable delay.

To be honest, I still think you should make something like this to delay the audio. ALL the other players have it. There must be a good reason for them to do it.

What is stopping Emby for adding the functionality? Heck, I jumped from Plex to Emby and even paid for the premiere version.

Is it that hard to implement, since it seems you don't want to put the effort in.. And it is such great product on all other options settings one have.

btw, On my other more expensive JBL headset, which I use on Windows 11..the enhancement is turned off, but still need to adjust the audio delay in VLC as well .

No. I already stated - no software update. There are no settings in the JBL app, and disabling enhancements has no effect. And if I reboot, enhancements are re-enabled. So even if that did work, I'd have to disable it every time i started the computer.

Like explained above:

My current mission is the new Windows app which is in beta since last week and there are multiple layers of considerarion with regards to audio/video latency:

  1. Out-of-the-box functionality
    • Does it play videos with audio in-sync in the best possible way (without any adjustments made)?
    • "best possible way" means the way how Windows Media Player (and other players) are able to do it
    • Means to find out whether there are cases where we don't do it as good as other do it
  2. Static Adjustment Feature
    • This is meant to compensate delays due to audio/video hardware paths which cannot be controlled/known by the player
    • Find out whether it works sufficiently well and in a consistent way
    • Find out whether a separate delay setting for 24fps videos is really needed and why
  3. Dynamic Adjustment of Audio Delay During Playback
    • Find out whether it can even be done with MPV player

1 and 2 are essential and current focus
3 is a nice-to-have and subject to prioritization/decision making in the future (your feature request)

So all my questions here are about 1 and 2 - hope this clarifies things a bit.

I think I'll buy a used one to investigate further.

First, we need to understand the problems, then we can think about solutions.

Is there anybody else who has an audio device with delay where none of the methods above fixes helps?

Please let me know which brand and exact model number you have.

Thanks.

PS: No need to repeat another time that you want a delay correction regardless of this - I got it.

I tested directly with mpv and the beta app. I couldn't affect the delay other than applying the delay correction in the player settings.

Looks like there isn't a Windows app. Did a bit more research...there doesn't appear to be a fix, and everyone appears to be doing what I'm doing...adjusting the delay time.

It's only with the bluetooth. If I connect via input jack, no delay. I used to do this, until the input jack broke  😐

By "input jack", you mean that you are connecting the speaker via wire to the headphones output of your laptop?

Well, but obviously not everybody would need to be doing that:

That's possible. But maybe rather on the driver. As said, I want to fully understand the situation and there's still a lot to learn. That's why I want to buy a bunch of gear.
