Remote connection no longer working.

Hey guys,

I was previously able to connect remotely, I have upgraded my phone in the last 6 months, but I was sure I'd connected since then.

In any case;

- ports forwarded on router.

- remote connections enabled in emby settings.

- installed port mapper plugin / restarted.

- toggled port mapping on and off / restarted.

Still no dice.

Any ideas?

The log is empty during the periods on mobile / off WiFi, no attempted connections logged.

Screenshots attached.

OK, I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter:

Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !

Hey Luke,

Thanks for that.

I skipped straight to external connection troubleshooting because everything works on-network.

There's only 2 suggestions for external, port forwarding and external address testing.

Port forwarding was already in effect.

Tested my external address per your instructions however, and I can't reach it.

Edit;

Static IP still active.

Router firewall not blocking.

I'll check the machine.

What exactly did you setup?

Hey mate, see screens attached in OP.

These port forwarding settings have been active since I first set it up.

Remote connection has been working with these settings up until recently, no changes were made to the setup.

I sent you a PM to see if I can help you remotely. We should be able to determine the source of the problem pretty quickly.

I found out by accident last night that mine is working again.

I don't know how it happened.

Check yours, if it's still no good maybe chat with @cayars and see if he can help you remotely.

Something I was just thinking of.  It's quite possible your ISP gave you a new IP address that took a bit of time updating?

If that happens to be the case a DDNS address and update script is an ideal way to fix that.

Yeah mine was out for at least a couple of months.

I actually didn't tinker with anything, other than the usual restart / reset / power cycle and network troubleshooting. Which all amounted to nothing anyway.

But yesterday I opened emby on my mobile by accident and it just happened to load my library straight up.

The only explanation I have is possibly something at my ISP that I haven't been made aware of.

I raised a tech support ticket and honestly the consultant was useless. 3 consultants later they still had no idea. One of them even tried to tell me they don't offer a static IP. Then she asks me "so, you want us to give you an IP is that right".

I said forget it just escalate my shit to someone who has a clue because I'm at work and I don't have time for this.

Never heard anything back.

But suddenly I have remote access again.

wish mine would do that, I've tried a ddns script still nothing. i would completely reinstall emby but i just dont feel like setting up everyone's accounts again and all that crap :( works for lan so i guess works for me but any extended family get's shafted haha.

edit: i've even checked ports are open on all pc's(just to make sure) and i the port forwarded to the server. i just get failed to connect nearly instantly.  shrug haha, i just want to take a guess that the entire server has to be reinstalled maybe something went wrong with an update something got corrupted maybe? idk lol

edit2: changed my DNS to google and it works lol.

Hi, I just started having the same issue recently. Tried restarting everything, adding the port forwarding manually, nothing seems to work. Initially it just wasn't allowing remote connections, but now I can't even connect using other devices on the same network. I'm seeing a bunch of errors in the logs that may be related?

Ah, shoot, I forgot to post an update, sorry - it turned out a firewall rule somehow got turned on that was blocking emby. Weird that it did, but I assume that's not something that could have been caused by Emby itself.

At some point windows firewall may have prompted you to allow emby and you may have accidentally rejected it. I've done it before myself so it's understandable. Anyway thanks for the feedback.
