Set External IP static

Hi All,

I share my Emby server with my family, and the external IP address keeps changing without a reason.

I don't use VPN or anything like that, my Synology server was not rebooted, his IP is static, and I couldn't find any location under settings/network/advanced that I can set it to static IP.

This is making the usage really frustrating and my family are not great at tech so it's taking me a lot of time to explain and help them fix this issue on a weekly basis.

Many, if not most, Internet Providers give you a dynamic external IP address by default. You generally have two choices:

1. Ask your ISP for a static IP address. This may cost a small monthly fee.

2. Use a DDNS service, like https://www.noip.com/, which is a free service. You then would give your parents the new DDNS, as that will stay the same.

Audiomixer

Synology has a built in DDNS as well. Control Panel>External Access and choose the DDNS tab.

Yep, Turn that on in Synology, get your DDNS name and then enter that in the domain field in Emby's network menu.
