Looks like all overlay's are missing after iOS/iPadOS 15.4.1 update.

Stats for nerds is not visible (only X to close that invisible overlay) also, subtitles are not being rendered.

Can you be more specific, what overlays?

Just updated my phone to 15.4.1.

iOS app 2.1.4

Can you update the app to 2.1.5?

I am updating my devices now to iOS 15.4.1 to test this.

What about other overlays in the video player such as audio or subtitle menu?

Both open and not seeing an issue with subtitle rendering either as that video was playing subtitles.

AFAIK, I am at 2.1.5 and it looks like some weird glitch as I did not have any of those (including player controls).
Now suddenly I do have overlays, after forced reboot (iPad completely hung, while doing screenshot)
Still subtitles do not seem to be rendered, not sure if they are drawn to overlay.

Well that is a relief. My iOS/ipad updates should be done shortly so i'll test as well.

And, they disappeared again:

That X, marks a spot for "Stats for nerds".

After killing Emby app and retrying:

Still, no subtitles though or nerdy statistics.

@Luke, can this be somehow related to the fact, that for some odd reason these files produce corrupted output when 4k HEVC direct play is attempted on IOS?
They do play back fine, via browser or direct via Android TV client (without artefacts). Also they do HW transcode while using browser as client, but for IOS client for some reason Emby server falls back to software decode/encode for transcoding which my server (Synology) is incapable of.

Currently I have identified 2 such movies, I cannot reproduce it with 2 others, I watched yesterday. At the same time, all these files play back just fine, using IINA on MacOS or Windows default Movies and TV app, also with VLC on IOS.

From log:

00:02:30.067 [AVHWFramesContext @ 0x1696880] Trying to map from a surface which is not in the mapped frames context.
00:02:30.068 [hwmap@f1 @ 0x17bbbc0] Failed to map frame: -22.
00:02:30.068 Error while filtering: Invalid argument
00:02:30.069 Failed to inject frame into filter network: Invalid argument

I can also reproduce it with Mac client.

Adding mediainfo of one of those files, as I must admit I am out of ideas, why one of such files can cause Emby clients to behave irradically and also screw up HW Transcoding on Server side.

It only plays back properly on Android TV or via Transcdoing for Emby web client on MS Edge.
All other Emby clients, I can test on (Windows, IOS, MacOS) start behaving irradically, direct play is corrupt (artifacts, flashes, green screen, overlays appearing and dissapearing, etc), HW transcoding would also fail (if forced via resolution and speed) and it would fall back to SW transcoding. At the same time, this file plays back just fine on every other player IINA, VLC, Windows "Movies & TV", etc. Ran errror check via ffmpeg, it came back with nothing, remuxed it using various tools, no change...

Anyway, after lots of experimenting with media, VA-API, Quicksync, different clients, etc.
It is clear it is not an actual IOS issue or caused by IOS upgrade.

Still, how misbehaving media and VA-API can affect overlays in IOS/MacOS client is beyond my understanding.

In case you wan't these files for examination, send me an PM, I still have them.
I am currently in an process of re-ripping them, so I won't be keeping them for long.

After re-ripping those two Movies, no I have not encountered it anymore and issue was only reproducible with those two files.
