iPhone Emby 2.1.2

dockerized Emby server 4.6.7.0

I’d love to get

better details on my downloads

Transcode status and percent

download progresses

start download button*

At the moment, I set a download for a season, I un-watched only, 3 item limit. It says Ready to Transfer, but appears to be just sitting there*.
sometimes there is more detail on the server Dashboard page, but not in this case.

From the home screen, select the hamburger menu -> Manage subsection in Downloads.  From there you can select the hamburger menu again and then under "Emby for iOS" select Downloads.  That will show a progress bar of things being downloaded.

I do agree that having this in multiple/easier to get to locations would be nice

I looked at The Dashboard both on web interface and iPhone. Looking at Manage Downloads. Occasionally it will just sit there at “Waiting to transfer” for hours before finally doing it. When it gets going, it’s reasonable. But I’m not sure what the hold up is. If the transcode is done, and it’s waiting to transfer/download, what’s the hold up? I’d like a button or something to say: Do It Now.

As a test, try going to the download settings screen instead of manage downloads.

Does the act of opening that screen get downloads to start?

So I have been testing this with a friend as well. Internally on my Wifi I can get my iOS devices to grab the downloads by going to the App Settings, Downloads screen which then triggers the progress bar and downloads.

Externally this same method fails and sits at transferring and never starts. The user account and the download settings are configured to allow downloading while not on wifi.

The entire download process on iOS is seemingly broken.  I have tested this with the latest production iOS app and the latest Beta iOS app and am running the Beta Server build 4.7.0.29

Transcode finished and my friend is trying to download remotely, and it is hanging at 0%

Hi, what this means is that although you can trigger the downloads manually, the iOS operating system is not running our registered background download process as frequently as you might like. We register it to run every fifteen minutes but that doesn't guarantee it will actually happen. iOS guidelines say the more you use the app, the more frequently the background processes will be allowed to run.

Additionally, please make sure not to swipe close the as this will prevent the background process from being able to run. It is OK to move the app to the background, however you cannot close it.

It would probably be helpful to show a user's device download progress on the server dashboard as well as show successful and failed transfer events in the Activity and Alert panels as well as put in an explanation of the way this works for the end user on the iOS client.

Perhaps it would be possible to display popover notification in the app or through the iOS notification system that the requested download(s) has been triggered please allow XXXXX to process the download. Do not close the application. Then another one when the download begins, and show progress, and another when it has finished.

I also assume it will not resume the download if you lose your internet connection during the transfer?

Just a follow up, my buddy was low on space on his iPad which was also giving him trouble downloading files. It would be cool if emby iOS could check to make sure there is enough free space to download, and if there isn't to alert the end user to the issue, and give them a way to try again after freeing up space.

still not working - like at all. Hmmmm.

Get this, when I'm on my phone, on user "drew", which is me, I go to download an episode via 5G (wifi is off), I can see the transcode happening under Dashboard both on my phone and on the web version. Under the web Dashboard > Downloads, the exact episode I asked it to download is there, that ep, and all the eps, are waiting to transferto "Tina's ipad" which is not my phone.

I do have hardware encoding setup. This is running dockerized on unRaid linuxserver.io

I'm not seeing much under the /mnt/user/appdata/emby/logs/embyserver.txt, even with Debug turned on.

There are 12 ffmpeg-transcode-XXXXXX.txt files in there, that match up with the number of episodes all waiting to transfer to Tina's ipad.

and I know this is specific to unRaid, not Emby, but here are the docker settings that are being passed to the emby docker from unRaid.

Proxynet is the SWAG ssl proxy that's making it SSL. I've got a subdomain pointing to emby.mydomain.com, that is translated to these ports. And you can see the GPU passthrough happening there too, which, as far as I can tell, is working swimmingly for active watching transcodes.
