recording padding enforcement

Can you add a preference to enforce either pre- or post-padding on the recordings?  If you have back-to-back recordings (movies or TV series), you might want to sacrifice the beginning or end, and you might not remember or consider the system-defaulted padding at the time of scheduling the recording to change it.

Anyone else run into this conundrum?  Is it much of an issue for folks?

When there is a pref that says 'enforce pre-padding', then it overrides the 'start when possible' setting.  It would apply only when there is a conflict.  Normally, if you have post-padding of 2min, and you have sequential shows, then the second show will start recording 2min late, right?

Not if they are on the same channel.  Both recordings would have the same content for 2 minutes instead.  So, the only time this option would come into play would be if they are on different channels AND you are out of tuners.

So if they are on the same channel and you have only one turner, then the second should will start recording before the first is done recording?

Yes, because both recordings are on the same channel it doesn't require any additional tuners, so it can start recording before the previous recording is done and follow your recording padding preferences.
