v4.6.7 - I have no issue with it on my TCL/Roku or on my phone, both via WiFi in the house.

A friend is in on remote.  I have no issue with either the Android app 3.2.32 or with Firefox and the IP address.  Both on their WiFi.

Their bw is 75d/30u.  They have a Samsung TV (didn't check the model) with Emby client 1.1.06 on their WiFi.

One show eps (.mkv) stutters playback in almost the same place(s) every time.  Plays fine for me on my HTC U11 with their WiFi.

Looked at a couple other .mkv shows.  NP.

The files aren't unusually large or small, between 500m & 1G for an hour.

Wacky.  Any thoughts?

argh!  now I have a different issue.  all was well yesterday.  Now remote connect doesn't work at all.  Tried my phone with cell service, not wifi service.

When I click the remote IP, on the server dashboard, I get "unable to connect".

The remote IP shows up at whatsmyip.

Haven't changed the router.

Tried exiting Emby, then restarting the MacPro and Emby after that.  No change.

Log attached.

This might be normal from inside your network depending on whether your router allows loopback or not.  I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter:

Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !

internal connect, NP.

remote IP from internal, No connect.  Never lands on any page.

This worked previously.

Sometimes the server Mac is behind a VPN, if I forget to turn off the VPN.

This has also worked previously.

Now, with VPN off, I can't connect with phone app or phones internet.

Any other ideas.?

weird one, but figured it out ..... I think.

Pretty sure this has to do with my hacked Mac server.

So FYI, others running dosdude1 HS patcher.
I am running HS on a MP3,1 via the dosdude1 patch app.  Strictly verboten from Apples pov.

For some reason, security updates that Apple still issues (even though they have abandoned this version of the OS) seem to render the hack dumb where it comes to some element of network settings (above my pay grade).

After the security update I ran dosdude1 Post Patch app and cleared/rebuild caches as he requires.

Then Onyx as he suggests, from the patched boot drive.

Then DU from his Patch app USB drive (that you build to do the patch).
Then, for good measure, I rebooted my router.  I'd rebooted only before with no success.

I connected via Emby app on my phone using cell network.  Got right in.

I connected to Emby via the browser on my cell using the cell network and got right in as well.
I will have a remote friend log in later, but I think that's it.

Was all of it the fix or just one thing?  Dunno.  I doubt the router reboot did anything coz the IPs stayed the same and I'd tried it before.

I'm thinking Onyx from the Mac boot and DU from the Patcher boot stick that one makes to get to HS on this Mac.

YMMD.

oh well.  that doesn't seem to fix it permanently.

Same remote log-in issue again.  Emby is fine on the LAN, but remote can't find the address even though it appears to be visible with WhatsMyIP.

Tried quit and restart Emby. n/c

Tried reboot. n/c

Tried Onyx and reboot.  n/c

Restarted the router.  n/c

can't remote log-in.

Does the remote ip address show up in the server log? It looks like the remote connections aren't even reaching your emby server, which means something at an earlier level is preventing that.

Is there a reverse proxy and if so have you logged at it's logs?

any idea where I can find the server logs?  Attached image is from the Mac Console app.

what is a reverse proxy?  In doing a little reading about a reverse proxy, could that be a VPN?  I have always used one.  Though I tried with it not engaged.  No difference.

These are not things I've had to configure or look at before.  Dunno what's changed.

But I'd certainly agree with " It looks like the remote connections aren't even reaching your emby server,"

When I search the Console logs for the remote IP, it doesn't turn up.

I know this is really not an Emby issue, but if you could point me in a direction, I'd appreciate it.

Did you try setting up port forwarding in your router?

I did. Made no change.  Just seems to have fixed itself.

I can't get in the remote side using a browser from here, which I used to be able to, but my 2 friends have no issue with their TV apps and the android app is working again.

Since you are HTTPS-only have you made an exception for Emby?  As that url will not work with https do to port differences.  Or change the mode.

Reading through this again, given that it happened all of a sudden, is there any chance your certificate expired? Does your emby server dashboard show the correct address as the remote address?

well yes and no.

when I'm behind the VPN, which I often am, of course the WAN IP is different.

But that has always been and I never had the issue of not being able to connect to the remote IP with Emby.

With the VPN off there is no issue.

In any case, currently the remote client TV and Android apps aren't having an issue getting in.  I dunno if I fixed something or a restart of one thing or another did, but until it (hopefully, does not) fail again.......

I assume you mean SSL certificate?  There doesn't seem to be one for the non VPN IP.  Or do you mean something else?

the weirdness continues.

last 2 nights I had to exit Emby Server and client as the client wouldn't let me auto or manual log-in.   It bounced me back to the top level menu of the TCL TV.

I do have "remember me" checked on the client.

The client is losing the thumb nails.  As is the server/User/Home.

I have "Save artwork into media folders" checked.

Log attached that I believe pertains to the time period tonite when I Exited.
