Folder Monitoring

Guys,

Would it require a lot of work to add folder monitoring for new added contents or changes to a library share? I always have to update my library manually when I add something(s) that are off my schedule task hours. I can't set a bunch of schedule tasks to run. I want my nas to be able to go to sleep.

Aslo any ETA on SB, CP, HP scan notification?

My EHS screen updates when new items arrive, and i get toast notifications no matter where i am. But, my TV and Movie folders do not show additions or deletions without a manual refresh or exiting and restarting MBC. I'm using Chocolate btw.

@@ebr I only see one option for real time monitoring on the server. Is that it?

Library > Advanced > enable real time monitoring

@@TheCaptain The issue can easily be a MBC issue and not MBS. I honestly wouldn't be able to tell since I only use MBC as client with Chocolate theme. Nothing else. I use the web for managing the server but not as a playback/browse client.

You could still use the web client to confirm weather its a MBC or MBS issue

I have never turned it off but it seems to stop running and whenever I add new content, I end up having to restart the server to get the data to refresh

The real time monitoring is at the mercy of the OS and file systems.  When using some networked file systems, it simply may not work reliably.  The only solution would be to increase the frequency of the library scan task.

I honestly don't think mine updates without the schedule tasks. I verified and it doesn't. It could be tricky I guess since my server is install on windows 7 box and my files lie on a server that is configured with ext4 file system.

I would really like not having to enable any schedule task but uses application such as sickbeard, couchpotato, headphones notification to execute the scan but that's not available as of right now and everyone seems to ignore my question about the ETA on supporting them, if there is one. I want my qnap to sleep times to times and not over kill my drives.

We don't have ETAs for anything.  We simply cannot commit to timelines when we are based on all volunteer effort of a very few number of people.

I'm not sure when or if we will have those integration points as, with both the real time monitoring and the scheduled scans, we have 90+% of the situations covered.

But, those are certainly things that can be added if a developer is willing to step up and do them.

And I totally understand the issue giving an ETA for any features can be. But what you just said is way better than not saying anything at all. At least now I know that they aren't being worked on versus earlier I didn't know anything at all.

Anyway thanks for your honesty.
