Hi all,

I can't play movies using macOS client without monthly subscription. Am I doing something wrong?

I Don't need any Emby Premiere features, I need just play movie.

Didn't use that Emby that often but just found out Today when it won't even play audio files without transcoding it now demands a premium subscription, no Music let alone movies without transcoding.

I guess my question this is still promoted as a "free" player" but what free features are still left. None as far as I can tell, I can't play files from the server itself let alone another device without a prompt to pay.

correct me if I'm wrong but what does this free Emby version still do ?

Thanks in advance,

Haoleman

Where exactly is it promoted as "free" player?

Put the argument of self describing nomenclature aside. What does the Free version actually do now ?

What files can I play ?

I guess by the link  Emby Free Isn't  a server anymore. You can look at files, manage users, block kids, Browse media but can't play any of it for more than a minute
It should be called Emby Free Lite Browser Only   Not Emby Free server software. I will move on .

None as the chart shows "Limited Playback (one-minute only)", almost all device specific apps will require unlock or premiere for full playback.

For full free playback you would use a browser.

I was using the mac client until a couple of months ago with the unlock.   After upgrading due to a bug, I can't anymore.

This is super frustrating.   I paid the stupid unlock fee.   I do NOT want my library connected to the internet.   I don't want to pay a monthly fee.  I just want to watch my own library at home.

Now I have to migrate a huge library to something else.  Thanks a lot, Emby.
