Trailers Plugin not working

As subject, whenever I try to play a trailer one of two things happen... I get the green MPAA screen for a split second and then it goes back to the MB classic EHS (or folder if I'm in there).  Or... I get a blank screen and it immediately goes back to the EHS or folder.

No trailers will play at all, not even ones I watched days ago.

This has been happening for about 4-5 days now, I updated today with the new plugin for trailers and no change.

However... if I try to watch a trailer from within the server browser using chrome, it works perfectly.

Log attached below.

If I uncheck the play in HD box to set it to 480p, the same thing happens.

But they play in the server browser in HD and 480p.

I added the log in the 1st post.

Your log shows a failure in the refresh trailers task, not a playback session in MBC.  Is the task failing?

I just had a look and it said the trailers scheduled task was last run 4hrs ago, and I ran it again and it didn't throw up any error.

Okay, but we'll need to see the logs for both MBC and the Server from a session where you actually have the problem described.

OK, here's a log from MB Classic.

All I did was open MC, go into MBC and try to play trailers... To my surprise 3 of about a dozen played... The rest exhibited the same  behaviour.

And the log from the server

Added that to the post above

That is the same log you posted before.  Doesn't match up with the playback session in the MBC log.

Also, these are the last 2 ffmpeg logs I found from this evening.

Is there a specific task you would like me to do, and then post specific log/s it's all changed since MB2.x and I'm no longer 100% which logs are which and where they're all stored.

I have been having the exact same issue of which Luke and EBR helped me look into briefly a month or so back. Seems like you guys had better luck tracking down this issue this time. I can't wait till the next server release!

That is great, thanks so much for all your hard work, time and effort on making our lives that little bit better :)

Thanks, is the current server release including this "fix"? I have not succeeded to download one single trailer yet (but all links are nicely added). So, will wait with further trouble shooting until this "fix" is pushed. Thanks!

Trailers are still not being downloaded, but only a link placed. I am running the latest stable server built. Thoughts?

Hi Steve1977,

In MB3, this is how the trailers plugin work unlike in MB2. The trailers plugin simply collates links to the latest trailers and plays them upon request. I believe a Trailer plugin similar to that in MB2 where the latest trailers are downloaded locally is currently not in development due to the fact that the person responsible for developing the MB2 version has not made himself available at this stage.

If you are referring to the fix Luke mentioned incorporating into the next server release then I don't believe this has been released as of yet. To my knowledge the fix Luke refers to simply fixes a bug in the streaming Trailer plugin so that it works correctly for those users that are currently can't even get any trailers to stream properly. I am one of those users unfortunately.

I too also prefer the MB2 trailer plugin simply because my Internet connection is terribly slow by today's standards however I think the current priority of all developers actively involved in all aspects of MB3 development is focused where it should be. I am happy to manually fetch my own trailers in the meantime if it means receiving MBT sooner rather than later  :D

thanks. I was under the impression that local trailers for movies I own would still be downloaded. that's the part not working for you. is it for anyone else?

I understand that trailers for upcoming movies are not being downloaded per design of the plugin - I have logged this separately as feature request.

Hi Steve1977,

Sorry I thought you were referring to new movie trailers. I have had zero issues with the plugin retrieving trailers for the movies I own and have on my local drives. Obviously it cannot find trailers for all the films I have but I would say it has retrieved trailers for over 30% of my locally stored movies.

I wish I could help you more with this issue however since I am not experiencing any problems with that part of the plugin I am not very useful to you. Sorry again for the misunderstanding.
