Some config questions

Bonjour,

1- Titles: my films are in mkv format and the titles are the original title of the film (in English for english films, in French for french films etc.) The title is in the metadata of the mkv container. As I choosed French for the default language of emby, all titles are translated in French. I would like to keep the original title. Is it possible?

2- Images: emby goes on the internet and borrow images for films and the casting and some other things. I have nothing against that, but sometimes the choice is wrong, for instance if there are two films with the same title. For instance, Casino Royale: I have the John Huston version (1967) with David Niven, Peter Sellers  etc... And emby display images and casting from the Martin Campbell film (2006) with Daniel Craig etc. How can I correct this?

3- Subtitles: We can choose the size of the subtitles but normal size is too big and small size is too small is there a way to adjust more precisely the size of the subtitles?

4- Symboic links: The media library for the films on my server is a folder with many subfolders according to the genre of films, some films can belong to various genres and so, I put some symbolic links in different folders for the same films. Emby then shows a same film many times. Is there a possibility to tell emby to not follow the symbolic links?

Thank you for attention (and solutions...)

F.P.

Hi, yes, before setting up the library, in the library options you can configure it to prefer embedded titles.

Hi there, have you explored the Identify feature?

In what Emby app do you think Normal is too big?

Thank you for answering.

1- Titles: the library option is set to "prefer embedded titles" (in French: préférer les titres intégrés) but the titles remain in French. Do you mean that this option should be chosen at the creation of the library and that it cannot be changed afterward even though this possibility seems to be available?

2- Images: I can't see where I can find this "Identify feature".

3- Subtitles: The problem of "normal"/"too big" and "small"/"too small" occurs with firefox (87) but it is ok with google-chrome (I don't use google-chrome...)

More questions:

4- When I open a library the first line is:

"films", "suggestions", "trailers", "genres", "favorites", "folders"

Is it possible to change this order or (better for me) suppress some of these items? I would like to see only the folders when I open the library.

5- When I open a film I can see some informations about the films, then buttons to navigate, then the casting, then a part entitled "similar". Is it possible to get rid of this part? For it is awfull! For instance if I open Altman's "Short Cuts" films suggested as similar are: Chaplin's "The Kid" or the "Gold Rush" or Patrice Leconte's "Ridicule" or a cartoon for children, all films totally unrelated to "Short Cuts".

Thank you.

No 2 - If you goto the main movie page or search for Casino Royal for example, it will show both film covers in search results, click the 3 dot menu and select identify.

  • It will ask you to enter the search term so type in Casino royale and search
  • Select the correct version that matched the film
  • Then confirm replace images and click save/OK

It will update the film with the correct metadata and images

Reference removing MORE LIKE THIS section which is what it appears as in beta server, you can remove from the web page version (don't think it affects the apps though) by entering the following in Settings > Custom CSS

div.verticalSection.similarSection {
display:none;
}

Images removed as requested by CassTG.

Thank you! I could correct the metadata and get the correct film. I'll check other films.

For the metadata, I have a problem with TV series Emby does not fetch the metadata on the internet as for films and even if I enter the imdb reference it is unable to find these metadata and to find the episode of the  serie. Is there something to set?

I could get rid of the "more like this" It is better like this for me.

For the subtitles I am under fedora 34 with firefox 87.

Emby still refuse to use the embeded titles in the mkv container.

Hi

Are you able to separate this in to the seperate issues more cleary as you go from tv to film and back again quite quickly so not sure what to test for you

So the More Like this CSS worked for you, thats good!.

Let me fire up a Fedora VM and test.

For the films, I think that I have understood what to do and if I give the imdb reference code, I can get the correct metadata.

As for TV series for instance:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2819924/?ref_=tt_ov_inf

for the general presentation, if I go to the first episode:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2826154/?ref_=ttep_ep1

and put the reference  tt2826154 in the emby metadata, emby is unable to find the imdb metadata as it does for films.

Thank you for helping.

Hi, try using the tvdb id instead. The Imbb lookup will only work if Tvdb/Moviedb happen to have that Imdb id on file.
