Everyone is doing it. The question begs why not Emby. Leave the old app as it is. Release a new app in parallel and use a wrapper to load your code. Almost EVERYONE has internet. I think it also means always being on the current version and a lot of folk do not update server side if they don't like some of the impacting end user changes.
