  1. I'm trying to install Emby Server on my Windows Home Server (WHS) 2011, but I keep encountering an error that prevents me from installing Emby. Error Details: see attached screenshot. Note: I've also attached the log file the screenshot's referring to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. install.log

    Suddenly can't connect

Hello all, I've been using MediaBrowser on my Proliant server running WHS 2011 for a while now with no problems. Suddenly yesterday the MediaBrowser server went off-line. When I tried to log on to it on the server I got the message "localhost:8096 unavailable". WHS had just had an update-reboot cycle so I quit MB3 and restarted it but no change. So I uninstalled MB3 completely and attempted to reinstall it but I can only get as far as the "Loading MediaBrowser Server" splash page. If I right-click on the icon on the notifications bar and select "Configure Media Browser" I simply get the "localhost:8096/web/wizardstart.html" page not available message. I've tried with IE Firefox and Opera, all the sameI've turned off the firewall and Windows Explorer Enhanced Security. I'm stuck, anyone got any thoughts?
  3. anybody installed server directly to WHS 2011? i'm new to MB program and started by installing it to HTPC, referencing the network drive. it seems to work well with my initial testing. but as server is always on, it would be best for access from all home PCs/devices. however, there isn't a tutorial, and i'm not totally comfortable working in WHS via remote desktop... hard to believe i would be the only one intereted in this option, so please point me in the right direction. As i said, i'm hesitant to just install it with remote desktop, until someone advises me. Though i might try it if i don't hear otherwise...?
  4. Thanks, I don't remember seeing a warning mentioning that but I'll restart the install and see if I get one. I'll also update explorer.

    Recommended Setup for Live TV?

Like a lot of others on here, I have some questions regarding setting Live TV. I currently have Windows Home Server 2011 running on a SUPERMICRO 1U 2x L5420 Xeon QC 2.5GHz with 8GB RAM and a 500GB HDD. I run MB3 Server and MCM on it server, and that's basically it. I also have a Synology NAS with 12 TB of storage in it. This is where all my media goes. Then I have 4 Zotac Z-Boxes connected to TVs that we watch all of our TV shows and Movies on via MB Classic. I want to set up Live TV but would like some advice about the best way to do it. Should I get another box, like a Zbox for example, to install Win 7, WMC, and ServerWMC on? Or should I create a Virtual Machine to run under WHS 2011? Before I discovered Media Browser a couple of years ago, I was using Beyond TV. I do actually have two older XP machines that have been decommissioned and are sitting in the basement that have Hauppage tuners in them. I don't know if those cards would be of any use at all. I forget which models they are, but I don't think either of them would fit in the server if I tried to go that way. So I guess I will need to go with either a USB tuner or a network tuner. I haven't done much research into which tuner to buy, so advice on that would be helpful as well. Thanks so much!
