  1. Like the title explains, i wish we could create categories/subfolders (not a real path) under the mediafolders in the library manager. Why? To have a clean and simple starting view (overview). I know there is a folder view, but that is not the same. Also there are no items for recently added, genre, last played... With categories/virtual subfolders you could create something like this: Movies ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> All latest added movies - Kids Movies ------------------> Latest added movies by subcategory -> Genre of All movies - Classic Movies -> Genre by subcategory -> People of All movies - Hitchcock Movies -> People by subcategory -> ... - Adult Movies -> ... - Modern Movies Series - TV Shows - Documentarys - Anime Audio - Music (Artists/Bands) - Soundtracks - Audiobooks
  2. I have recently started ripping my UHD Blu-rays for play back in Emby, and discovered issues with subtitle transcoding. In the past, my 1080p Blu-ray rips have been in HEVC, whatever the main audio track is, as well as only forced/foreign subtitle tracks if there are any. Normally I would extract the PGS (.sup file) and convert to VobSub using BDSup2Sub and that would work fine. This has been a habit that started back when Blu-ray subs weren't supported by the codecs on my old HTPC way back when, but handled DVD subs (VobSub) fine. The first 4K disc I have ripped that requires a forced subtitle track is Avengers: Infinity War for just one line of dialogue in the whole movie. I have tested playing this back using PGS, VobSub and also SRT. PGS and SRT seem to be OK and everything direct plays, however the VobSub version wants to transcode everything just to burn that single line of text onto the video. The HD audio also gets transcoded back to Dolby Digital. To test this further, I went back and tried some 1080p Blu-rays I had ripped previously with VobSub subtitle tracks and found that they too are being transcoded. My main benchmark for testing subtitle playback has been my rip of Avatar which used to play fine, but now the subtitles are being burnt in and the audio is also not coming through as DTS-HD as it should. VobSub maintains the font style and colour from the PGS subs on movies such as this that would be lost if I used SRT. My Emby server doesn't have the processor power for 4K transcoding, so it becomes unwatchable, but is fine with 1080p rips. So for future rips, I will be happy to use PGS as long as it continues to work properly. However, I would definitely prefer to avoid transcoding my older ones with VobSub subtitles so that the audio can be kept in the original HD format. I especially don't want to have to re-mux all of my older movies with different subtitles if it can be avoided either. Current setup consists of Emby app running on an Nvidia Shield connected via HDMI to a Pioneer receiver (supports HDMI 1.4 and HD audio formats) then to a 4K Sony TV.

    Tiny Subtitles With MKV

Hey, Thanks for your guys hard work. Emby is always a pleasure to use. I've noticed that when playing files with embedded subs, like the MKV format, the default size is tiny. Unreadable basically. When I extract the subs into an .srt file ( ffmpeg -i "%~1" "%~n1.eng.srt" ) it works fine, loading the subs as expected. Any chance Emby could work with this better automatically? Thanks

    No subtitles at all

I have setup one library on my MacBook. I have the library setting set to download subs in English. When I am playing the movie on my Mac I go to movie gear icon and select Subtitle Setting and I get the below message. I do not know where else I need to change settings. ALso when in a title I click on Edit Subtitle and I see English selected in the drop down and I click the magnifier glass icon and It says no subtitle found. Pretty strange. Please advise. To configure default subtitle appearance and language settings, stop video playback, then click your user icon in the top right section of the app.
  5. Hi folks, I have two Media Maps in Emby (both with sub folders). One for my daughter and one for myself. We both have made Collections. I hope you can add some extra functionality to the Collections option. It would be very nice that the Collections can be separated per Media Map, otherwise we see each other collections and we really don't want that. Because I don't want her to see the movies that I watch By the way the folder view option is not working correctly on the Nvidia Shield (in the sort menu you can not select folder view) so all movies are displayed on the screen. On my TV (LG) however this function is working correctly. I hope you can also made this possible very soon on the Nvidia Shield because I prefer the Shield app above the LG App. Many thanks in advance. Nighthawk
  6. Hi, As @@Luke asked for logs here - I'm making this thread in Synology section since I'm using server on DS916+ I have a problem with external ass subs. Tried few clients (server restart before, tested in that order - might be useful info while reading logs), and that's what I've got: Windows: Emby Theater: ASS ok, Direct Playing Chrome - ASS ok, Direct Streaming, F11 fullscreen OK Raspberry: Emby for Kodi- ASS shows, but no formating/color Kodi directly from NAS share - ASS OK - just to check, that Pi/Kodi itself can handle it Android: App: Not playing movie at all - movie not starting, som other plays ok, and once after trying others tested file started but only with English subs, and after closing it - again not starting ... Chrome: ASS OK, Direct Streaming, Fullscreen OK VLC directly from NAS share without Emby - ASS OK Ipad App - transcoding 3.2 Mbps, no subs, even embedded English are not working Chrome - Direct Streaming, ASS works, but not on fullscreen (I know, that subs in browser is some kind of hack - Luke explained me already in different thread) Safari - same as Chrome Ipad VLC directly from NAS - Video plays, I see english subs, but external ass are not available (no on list) All tests made on same video file, transcoding in server set to not using VA API - only software. Bellow I attach logs from this debug session. If this will help, I can send link to tested video/subs (it's less than 300mb) ffmpeg-remux-2b9e70bb-7c04-4f5d-8fad-b45472958b51.txt ffmpeg-remux-20af0644-03d6-47aa-9c37-51620505dd21.txt ffmpeg-remux-923d313f-12c8-4b5e-821d-633a37c9e8e1.txt ffmpeg-remux-abc20902-069f-400a-a4d9-00a13c17bd83.txt ffmpeg-remux-abf09d87-c4b6-4b74-b04f-b2c0674e7d8a.txt ffmpeg-transcode-7ed88e21-482c-4990-b358-669f78c3df2e.txt ffmpeg-transcode-1223dba0-0ba2-4da7-a12c-afa53a1a40cf.txt ffmpeg-transcode-bcb65f5a-7982-414a-8685-07aa9ef18ee7.txt server-63635074186.txt server-63635117859.txt

  8. Hi , playing movies with idx/sub over dlna has never worked for me, I been using the latest dev build and every time I try to play a movie with sub/idx my tv respond with a "format not supported" error. Playing the same movie with a srt subtitle works just fine. The reason that sub/idx doesn't work is that the transcoding is failing when it cant find the .sub file when the path contains a whitespace as the cmdline reference -i isn't inclosed in "-marks. The last row in the transcoding log tells the tale.(see example below) I guess this would be an easy thing to fix ? Subtitle Guide

    https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159160-subtitles
  10. So i was trying to get subtitles to work on MBC/WMC without having to use MPC and the only option seemed to be Media Control. Media Control is fine for the more experience user but is not very WAF worthy. So i decide to try and get MCERemote plus (which is the only other alternative to Media Control) and after 2 days of messy around i finally got it to work properly. So i decided to share my setup so that others may benefit. This has only been tested with Embedded subs only but MceRemote simply turns on or off the subtitle section of FFDshow. So if FFDshow properly enables the external sub, there is no reason why MCE remote wouldnt work. What i installed: Lav x64 (audio/video/splitter) - Latest Build FFDshow x64(Video/DXVA) MCERemote Plus Win7DSFilterTeaker 5.9 Install: Install Lav (you can install X86 and x64...doesnt really matter) Install FFDshow x64 (only video decoder is needed), for the rest of the menus, I left default for the video codec choice (do not enable Subtitles) and disabled the audio mixer Extract MCERemote where ever you want. if you have UAC enabled (set the exe to always Run as Admin) Configure: Win7DSFilterTeaker 5.9: use it to properly assigned x64 codec to FFDshow and Lav for audio (Follow the Lav guide on the Forum) Open Lav Audio and set it up for your system needs (ie: enable AC3 DTS whatever you need) Open open FFDshow and make sure you follow the configuration shown in the jpg that is in the MCERemote Plus folder Open Lav Splitter. Now if your using this for manly anime as i am, you can simply set your Lav Splitter config like my screenshot and if the video files was properly encoded, it should work without a hich. You can view this page to get a explanation on the Splitter if your not familar with it. Now start MCERemote and configure your shortcut keys to do the switching and make sure FFDshow is selected and DirectVobsub is unselected and press OK Thats It! Now start up MBC and start a anime or any video containing subs. Press on your designated Toggle sub key and it should turn on/off the sub. If it does not, press the button once, then right-click on the FFDshow icon and make sure there is a check mark next to Subtitle (this is what the toggle function does in MCERemote config). If that works but still no sub, right-click the FFDshow icon again and this time under subtitle stream, make sure its has a check next to the subtitle and not "No Subtitle". If it was set to "No Subtitle" then Lav Splitter probably wasnt able to set the proper sub which could be be cause the 3 letter code is wrong. The way it suppose to work: FFDshow Subtitle is not checked by default Subtitle must Not be on "No Subtitle " or Toggle will do nothing Audio switching shouldnt be necessary if Lav Splitter is configured properly and Video files are properly encoded with Subs Things i have noticed with MCERemote: Once i switch audio using the shortcut key, i cant seem to switch back. Any feedback would be appreciated. Its not such a big deal because since Lav splitter switches the video to the proper audio on startup but the switch button seems to still not work..as if its a the end of a list and cant go back to the first entry. Cycle Sub streams doesnt seems to work.. probably the same reason as the Cycle Audio stream. Shorcut keys must be a keyboard key and not MCE_... becuase WMC doesnt seem to register it.
