Hello fellow Emby Users, lately i encounter extreme loading times, when i open emby on web/mobile app/desktop app it takes 10 seconds easy to load all the preview. Same for searching or any click, it takes ages. Starting a video file sometimes can take up to 30-60 seconds. If i go into the Database Settings and vacuum the database on next start up and restart Emby, everything is blazing fast again as it should be. But pretty much as soon as i start a library scan it slows down pretty fast till it's not usable anymore. A library scan takes +18 hours in this state. The VM is installed on SSDs and runs Ubuntu 22.04 minimal version. I set up a new VM and installed Emby again but i run into the same issues. I am trying to troubleshoot this for a couple of weeks now but i sorta run out of ideas. For storage i use cloud storage mounted via rclone and image extraction off. The VM has 8GB ram and 8 cores of a i9-10850K CPU assigned which is plenty so there shouldn't be any bottleneck. I sadly can't tell when this issue starts if it came with a new Emby version or not since i've got this for a while and only occasionally bothered to check what could cause it, so i have it for a while. If it requires me to test different scenarios and or send more files please let me know. Thanks for any help in advance! embyserver.txt

Emby Server Lags out with 90-95% cpu usage but uses only 20-30% of Ram
ifti12 posted a topic in Linux
Our server is an Apollo server where HW's are Intel XEON E5-2620 32 core processor 128GB Ram 150TB of Raid 5 Storage. 16gigs swap mem 10gbps throughput Os is running on Latest version of Linux and Emby version is 4.7.10.0 The main issue occurs at the peak hour when 20-30 starts streaming at the same time. Transcoding is enabled on our server but the contents are maintained so that the transcoding is minimal. This last 30 day's data on PlayMethod But at peak time CPU usage racks up to 90-95% where ram is used for only around 20% of the whole lot. This is causing serious lagging even with just loading the front page. I know transcoding consumes a lot of reso urces but wasn't this build is relatively okay for handling this much of data? What should we do? Here is the log file. embyserver.txt Should we add a GPU? What is the root issue here? Thank you. embyserver.txt- 3 replies

This happens only to some files and not others. I have transcoded them from m4v (which I thought might be the problem) to mp4 but still they take close to a minute to load and even after playback begins they keep stalling. This is not the case with other files in the same folder.ffmpeg-transcode-cf32cc96-746e-45d7-a6b9-aca28dd43099_1.txt Log file attached. Any thoughts? Note: if I play them on my computer via my Google Chrome browser I do not experience any problem. Thanks Gerard

Hello Guys, I would like to share with you all a way where you can speed up your pc server to help stop freezing, slow performance and many internet problems with one little fix. This has worked for me like a treat and i hope it works for others as well. their is no downloading other software either. To achieve the best results possible run a speed test using this link Speedtest by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test first to see what your connection is like. you normally look straight at the upload and download speeds don't worry about these just yet, your main focus is the PING speed, as you can see this was mine before i started with the next step. Notice I have a PING of 114ms. this is really bad and needs to be as low as possible, Basically PING is what sends information to one server to the next, having a lower PING speeds will give you better performance with streaming to other tv's, xbox and other devices. this helps with a lot of things such as loading, screen freezing, playback freezing, internet speed, and many more.... Okay so what we need to do is DISABLE NETWORK THROTTLING. DISABLE NETWORK THROTTLING Windows has a built-in setting that limits your bandwidth to what your computer can handle. Results will vary and it might cause more harm than good, but it’s worth playing with the settings to see if it works for you. We’ll need to play with some internet Windows settings, so follow carefully. Step 1. Search Windows for Regedit. Step 2. Follow the the following program path, using the arrow next to each folder to to open the next: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile. Step 3. Whilst you have the SystemProfile folder selected, double click on NetworkThrottlingIndex. Step 4. Change Value data to ffffffff (fx8 times) with the Hexadecimal base still selected. If you want to switch back, the default value is hexadecimal a. Once these steps are complete close everything down and Restart your pc. Once everything is rebooted these setting will take place and you can now run the speed test once more to check the new speeds, as you can see in the picture below i achieved a massive difference having PING 114ms to PING 11ms. With this being lower i then checked all my devices (phone, tv,pc and xbox) all with massive speed and performance increases. I hope this helps anyone that is finding bad connects, low performances, freezing and slow loading. Best Of Luck and hope this helps Onyx

Hey all, its been a while since my last visit but lately I've run into an issue that I cant seem to figure out and in all my searching through the forums I can't see where this has happened to anyone else. I added a couple new folder/libraries to the system using the dashboard (just to further complicate my life) and for whatever reason they do not show up in the WMC UI or ROKU interfaces I use. The only time the do show up is in the Dashboard. I did see something similar in the Linux forums where the solution was to delete the "options.xml file and let the program work its magic ... alas no such luck for me. So I'm wondering is there a way to essentially do a full library reset, I've tried "update library" from the UI as well as the "re-scan" from the dashboard, still no love. I'm hoping there's an easy reset that would also help with my load times as well, I'm hitting 2 min nowadays and not sure if that's just the size of the library of a function of too much gunk in the system. thanks in advance bambam20170207.txt

Emby Slower to load, appears a timeout in logs for a local IP
LaurenceM posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi, I've been using Emby for a good 6 months now and it used to load almost instantly however after an upgrade a while back it takes a good 5+ seconds to display the media whenever you refresh the page. Emby is on a dedicated server with a VLAN to a NAS and an external connection for remote access - nothing has changed here to cause the slowdown. I've noticed when watching the page load log i see a timeout saying: Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT http://192.168.0.4:8096/emby/system/info/public For some reason Emby is trying to load the local IP of the server on my remote PC, which of course wouldn't work so is timing out. This loads first in the script which is why nothing displays until the timeout. My Emby settings haven't changed either, and as far as I can see there isn't anything on the web interface to change to stop it loading a local ip for this one script? Is there a config file or software file that can be edited to go off the external ip rather than local? Thanks
