Hi, @SamES I have another "unnecessary transcoding" issue. This happens with both h264 and h265 4096x2160 files, but not 3840x2160. I've already tried: playing the same files from USB - works OK, and both files go without issues playing via DLNA - works OK, and both files go as above which is strange on second thought because I can't see h265 in the mp4 in DLNA profile for the Samsung Smart TV updating the TV app to beta 1.8.8 (was 1.8.0 from the Tizen store) - no help deactivating transcoding completely in Server -> User settings - works OK again, both files go on the TV but then there'll be a problem on mobile phones, I guess TV specs (QE65Q80DAT) indicate it should play 4096x2160 files OK which I guess gets confirmed by playing it by different methods. I'm assuming from the ffmpeg log that the reason for transcoding is the size alone. By "working via DLNA" I mean there's no ffmpeg log for these sessions. The same applies to the deactivated transcoding option. The server is 4.8.8.0 running on MacOS 12.7.6 Monterey. It is not a huge issue, it's not a deal breaker and I'm still going to go with the Premiere option for other features anyway. Just my i5 4th gen can only do h264 transcoding so I'm wondering if there's something I can do, encode it (in HandBrake) in a different way or set something else I haven't tried yet. I can always go with 3840 size which is not trigging transcoding BTW, the same settings just scaled down to 3840x2160. ffmpeg-transcode-23b45996-a07b-48af-9e6b-3b9e59cb1fff_1_h265-4096x2160.txt ffmpeg-transcode-def4edf7-7528-491b-b8de-33741a57e77d_1_for_h264-4096x2160.txt

Hey Guys, Last weekend I probably had to be the most unluckiest person as far as losing everything on my hard drives. I have two computers, one with a two disk RAID & the main computer with SSD for programmes and SSD Hybrid for storage. I had to format the storage drive so I backed up everything to my RAID storage only to have one of those fail during backup. Sadly it is mechanical so not much hope of recovering anything and the singular drive had been partially written to and didn't recover much. Moving forward I want to review how I store my data. Not just being media but everything. I have seen it suggested in threads here to invest in NAS by Synology. That's a great idea but it is the viewing experience too. I used to have Emby server on both computers (watching with Emby classic) so that I could have the one for the viewing and the other for stuff that was still downloading. IE, I collect TV stuff until the season ends. For me it keeps it tidy and (I don't have to show all of those folders on the viewing pc)but the meta data is still being updated. I would like to move away from having two computers if possible without losing the experience. I also want to be able to use a remote control for whatever I decide to go with. I have a Samsung Smart TV but see that the software for that is still being developed. Could anyone advise what could be options for me? I am open to any new ideas. The key firstly is to have a solid storage system which I guess would be a NAS network but I don't want to spend thousands on this. Any ideas for the viewing experience will be much appreciated.

Saludos.

Tizen Unable to view TV Show Episode details (to mark played, favorite, see cast, etc)
SpMCool posted a topic in Samsung Smart TV
Sorry if this has been mentioned previously, I looked thru the last 2 months of posts and didnt see any posts about it. The issue that I am having, and a very frustrating one at that, is that I am unable to view the details of a specific episode for any tv show. When I click on a tv show then select a specific season, I get a list of episodes that when I select (press the circular button inside the directional pad) the episode plays. It does not go to the details of that episode, which then would allow me to set as favorite, delete, change the resolution, add subtitles, etc. I tried pressing every button on my remote and I was unable to get it to display some sort of menu allowing me to view the details nor bring me to the episode details. I was able to find a workaround, but it only applies if an episode is showing in the section for 'next up' or 'continue watching', I then am able to bring up that episodes' details then scroll to other episodes for just that season. I have a TV running Emby Theater for Android (not sure the version), but on there when I load episodes for a season, to the right of the episode description you can favorite, mark watched/unwatched, and show more info for each episode in that specific season. The Samsung app does not display those options, which I believe are just missing or never added in the version that I am running. That said, its been this way since I decieded to switch to Emby from Mezzmo 6+ moths ago and I ignored it until I finally made the full switchover. I have a Samsung UN60KS8000 running Emby Theater 1.0.61 (updated on 5/22/19) connected to Emby Server 4.1.1.0 running on windows server 2019 standard. I attached pictures I took of the Samsung App displaying a TV show, its Season(s), and Season episode list to better help you understand what I am referring to. Since I feel that you may ask what remote I have (since the standard remote has MANY more buttons then mine and one of those may bring up the menu I am looking for) I added a screenshot of the remote taken directly from the user manual. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can provide to help get this resolved. Thanks, -Shawn -
Hi, I am new to Emby and only installed it yesterday. When I try to play a 3D movie, it plays but I have to manually switch the TV into 3D mode. Looking at the metadata, all the movies have been correctly identified as either tsbs or ttab, they say 3D in the information in Emby player but they do not switch the TV. I have been trying Plex for a few days but finding that it is taking too much processing power on my NAS whereas Emby hardly uses any cpu and just works. Plex however does auto switch the TV mode to 3D on all the movies, the ones that didn't, I just added the appropriate "t-sbs" or "t-tab" to the file name and that seemed to sort it. Is there anything I need to do differently in Emby to get it to switch when 3D movies are played? My TV is Samsung: Model: EU65HU8500 Firmware: 1530 Emby Client: 1.0.39 Thanks

Hi, Emby Server 3.0.8500.0 (Windows 10 64-bit) is unable to serve external .srt subtitles to Samsung Tizen JS9000, whereas Serviio is successfully able to do so. Proper DLNA profile configured for Samsung Tizen TV in Emby and confirmed to be in use. The subtitle profile section contains the below: <SubtitleProfiles> <SubtitleProfile format="srt" method="External" didlMode="CaptionInfoEx" /> </SubtitleProfiles> Wireshark TCP capture for failed Emby external subtitles serving scenario showed the following wrong section: <CaptionInfoEx d3p1:type="srt" xmlns:d3p1="sec" xmlns="sec"> http://10.42.0.167:8096/Videos/e59398b141080a191c061086f182d404/e59398b141080a191c061086f182d404/Subtitles/4/0/Stream.srt </CaptionInfoEx> Wireshark TCP capture for successful Serviio external subtitles serving scenario showed the following correct section: <sec:CaptionInfoEx sec:type="srt"> http://10.42.0.167:8895/resource/1/1_SUBTITLE.srt </sec:CaptionInfoEx> This issue is tied to the methods in MediaBrowser.Dlna/Didl/DidlBuilder.cs which should be checked. Looking forward to have this issue fixed..and making Emby The One & Only ! Regards.
