  1. So I realised today that Emby on my Synology DS218+ was 'stuck' on 4.4.3.0-1 while there were newer versions out. Figured it was best to keep it up to date so I installed 4.6.6.0 over the top of it.... Then the problems began. Mainly the issue is with RTM not working, which after researching all day, I've now seen a lot of people reporting. I never had a single issue with that back in version 4.4.3.0-1, so I'd like to go back to that again, but I can't see where to find older packages? Currently none of my libraries are updating via RTM, I either have to manually trigger it or do it on a schedule. Things I've tried to do to fix it: - Increasing the inotify watches number based on this: - Uninstalling completely, then re-storing from a backup (from the server config plugin) - Making a new library with a new path with RTM enabled, adding a file to it to see if RTM works there... nope. - Giving the 'emby' user full read/write access to the library folders. None of these things worked, so I figured it's best to just try and drop back to 4.4.3.0-1 and see if that fixes it as it seems that everyone with this error happened to get it after upgrading to 4.5 & beyond.
  2. Real time monitoring has been working fine on 4.5.4.0, but has stopped working. Have to manually scan or wait for scheduled scan to detect new files. I have disabled and re-enabled real time monitoring in each library several times, rebooted the NAS with no effect. Log is attached, but I did remove the NAS IP address as I do not feel comfortable posting my NAS IP on a public forum. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. I know, this has been discussed a lot in this forum and I read all the threads and the ones leading to external forums as it seams to be a Synology problem. I can't get the real time monitoring to work. I tested with different folders on my DS213j and with SMB2/SMB3 and AFP. I gave the emby server user all privilieges to access the files and folders via read/write. After all the digging it looks like it comes down to the inotify service on Synologys end. I expanded the max_user_watches from 8192 to 204800 via the recommended task after startup and a cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches via terminal shows me the correct value cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances shows me a value of 128 and that seems to be right. I can't get my library to update the "watched" folder after copying a file there. Deleting doesn't trigger anything either. After at least 6 hours I am ready to let go and refresh manually. My questions: 1. Does anyone with my setup or a very similar one have the RTM up and running with the latest DSM 6.2 and the latest ARMv7 legacy (4.6.0.4 at the moment)? 2. How can I determine if inotify is actually "running"? Which log do I have to check? The emby server log gets no entry after copying or deleting a file. I waited long enough. Is there a terminal command to check if inotify is running? 3. Could I use a script via the task manager after boot to watch a folder via the inotify-tools I found as a package here?: https://synocommunity.com/package/inotify-tools Any help or a hint if it could work or that I should give up would help! Thanks in advance...

    Real Time Monitoring Question

Does Real Time Monitoring work when the files are stored on another machine? I have all my drives in a Windows 2016 server that has very little power. This is also where Emby lives now. When a couple users are attached and some process kicks off on the server it gets really laggy or disconnects completely. If I move Emby to another Windows machine on my network, will Real Time Monitoring still function properly?

    Help needed with permissions

Hi I am trying to get Emby to add my cameras videos automatically but seem to be struggling with permissions. I have created a folder on my nas for my cctv camera and it creates the mp4 files in it via NFS. I have ended up giving full permission to everything and everyone in the synology folder but I keep getting xxxxxx.mp4: Permission denied I have given Embysvr custom permissions with everything ticked take ownership, change permissions etc. I have tried setting the NFS to map users to admin and then tried map to guest. It appears that ffmpeg/ffprobe still don't have permissions? 2019-09-14 09:28:51.145 Info App: [LinuxMount] Checking we can attempt to mount [/volume1/general/Camera/EF00000000018190/motion/20190914/084129-av-1.mp4], Extension = [.mp4], Operating System = [Linux], Executables Available = [True]. 2019-09-14 09:28:51.145 Info App: [LinuxMount] Checking we can attempt to mount [/volume1/general/Camera/EF00000000018190/motion/20190914/084129-av-1.mp4], Extension = [.mp4], Operating System = [Linux], Executables Available = [True]. 2019-09-14 09:28:51.145 Info MediaEncoder: ProcessRun 'extract-image' Execute: /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/ffmpeg/bin/ffmpeg -ss 00:00:10.000 -i file:"/volume1/general/Camera/EF00000000018190/motion/20190914/084129-av-1.mp4" -an -sn -threads 0 -vframes 1 -vf "scale=600:trunc(ow/a/2)*2,thumbnail=24" -f image2 "/var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/cache/temp/a686c478-2973-4adb-8692-0a65dd9bd0c9.jpg" 2019-09-14 09:28:51.181 Info MediaEncoder: ProcessRun 'extract-image' Started. 2019-09-14 09:28:51.198 Info MediaEncoder: ProcessRun 'extract-image' Process exited with code 1 2019-09-14 09:28:51.682 Error MediaEncoder: ffmpeg image extraction failed for file:"/volume1/general/Camera/EF00000000018190/motion/20190914/084129-av-1.mp4" (output file not found) 2019-09-14 09:28:51.682 Error MediaEncoder: Thumbnail-Filter extraction failed, will attempt standard way. The only way I can get it to work in emby server is by selecting the folder in synology and RE-applying the permissions to subfolders. After that I can do a re-scan in emby and it adds the file and thumbnail. I have been messing about with permissions etc for days now but not getting anywhere. Can anyone help or give advice on what else to try please. Thanks

    Real time monitoring

Hi everyone, I got a question - currently with every install of Emby there is a task to scan the libraries every 12 hours. In each library setting there is also the possibility to activate "real time monitoring". Is it wise to activate this? What are the ups and downs? Why isn't it activated at default (performance issues?)? I'm looking for a way to have Emby detect new files (Movies, TV Shows and Music) as soon as possible and not to have an update somewhere in between of every 12 hours. For example if I put some new music to my NAS I would have to manually hit the "sync"-button every time to have it appear ----- that is not quite useful The other way would probably be to reduce the 12 hour syncing to a couple of minutes, right? Or is there any other option? How do you use it? Thanks Stefan PS: I am running Emby on a Debian 9 system
  7. Recently I noticed that my Realtime monitoring doesn't seem to be picking up newly added items. This used to work for me in the past and I don't think I have changed any paths or anything since moving to Docker. Is there anything I can try or check to debug this? The storage is on a NAS but there are shares mounted on the Linux system that point to them, and then Emby maps those paths and uses them in the media library settings.

    system real time monitoring

I have Re-installed Emby server 2 times now fresh . I am running Windows 7 Ultimate,,, was running Windows 7 Enterprise is it possible i have turned off a service that controls real time monitoring???? it use to work and all my drives have the check on real time monitoing in emby.. or maybe a drive feature setting, I have 4 drives and again I would just drop the file/folder where it belongs and it would update automatically .... ANY Suggestions ??? also the drives have Indexing checked on the explorer
  9. When I try to enable real time monitoring in settings, when I click save it forces me to save a metadata path. Currently, I have the metadata saved in the respective folders. Why does it force me to set a metadata path to enable real time monitoring? Thanks for the help.
